Drink down my cellar. I just took stock of it and I have exactly 300 bottles with an average ABV of 10.79%. 195 of those are single bottles of different beers. 41 are BCBS and 12 are BCCBW, both going back to 2013, which was my first BCBS year. 20 are of Bigfoot going back to 2009. But outside of those multiples, there are just a 15 different bottles that I have duplicates of but they are stuff like FIS and Expedition for the most part. I haven't stooped to calculating the cost or average BA score (not all have prices attached).

    Buy more 6-packs.
    Tick some more states.
    Trade a bit.
    Hit Poobah.
Be more active on here again.
    Participate with the Locals. (@Devman171 & @ninjembro)
Go to more breweries. Here I come VA and PA.

Started early by, late last year, paring down the glassware collection by +/-40 pieces (mostly doubles [how and why do I have 12 Chimay chalices?] and festival glasses).

Decrease the amount of bottles in the cellar (400+ bottles at last count with no semblance of organization and if I said I knew what was down there, I would be lying.). Either need to start drinking more AND/OR start taking more beer to social occasions and leaving it behind.

And, finally, fingers crossed, visit the Holy Land of Belgium which is scheduled for fall of this year.

2017 bump: So, have I accomplished my goal? No. Have I failed miserably? No. Basically I'm treading water here, which, I guess is good. My biggest problem seems to be I have this need to "replace" what I drink, which I suppose is the point of a "cellar" but its almost a crutch I seem to lean on when it comes to whether or not I should have a drink.

I don't necessarily think that's a terrible thing (again, 1st World problem) but I'm not sure knocking back double digit abv beers more often than not can be a good thing for me, I'm 40 in two weeks, and have been hitting it fairly hard since I was in mid-teens. The other problem is the beer fridge the missus got me for Father's Day this year, which is always full with 16oz cans and the occasional bomber or two (think bigger than a college dorm room fridge, considerably smaller than a regular sized fridge) and the 10 or 12 or so tallboys I've snuck back into the regular fridge.

    So where do I sit?
    2013 - 13
    2014 - 27
    2015 - 31
    2016 - 37
    Bombers (in total) - 29

Basically (in kinda) a nutshell...I need to consciously stop shopping. My goal for 2017, I guess. I need to stop scratching the constant itch. That's 108 bottles (some bigger than 16oz, all big stouts, barleywines, old ales), 29 bombers and probably another 50 to 60 plus cans I'm not "aging," that are on hand and ready to drink. I know some of you will scoff at this amount, and some of you will shrug your shoulders and say, "that's it, that's nothing!" but long story long...gotta stop shopping so much. Happy New Year's to everyone.

...didn't quite pull this one off, though I did keep it up fairly well for about half the year (though it kept getting extra exceptions added on every month or so... "new beers are okay if they come in a variety pack with an old beer or two," "new beers are okay if I didn't buy them and someone else offered," etc. until eventually I just went back to a mix of new and old as usual rather than trying to have just already-tried beers.)

On the other hand, I succeeded in visiting four breweries in the past year (including multiple trips each to my two most local breweries) and even took a tour of one. Might not seem like much to people who visit tons of them, but considering that my count for 1986-through-2015 was zero, I'd say it's a pretty good number.

This fits for me as well, though I was doing a bit better heading into this new year, so I feel mildly confident. Also related to what you said: drink down my cellar. I do not have too large of a cellar, but I have found that I do not necessarily get much more enjoyment out of cellared brews than I do fresh ones. Combine that with trying to find the "right occasion" to pull out a cellar beer, and the cellar only grows slowly. It's also one I can check next January to see if I accomplished it .

This sounds almost identical to me...

Currently have 434 bottles with avg. ABV 11.09% and 225 different beers and/or years of the same beer (e.g., 2015 & 2016 Parabola, KBS, BCS, etc. count as distinct beers).

    Spent $4.8k in 2016 on 477 bottles over 54 purchases. Avg. BA Rating (incomplete) is approx. 92.17/4.20. Largest inventories are of FW - 35, DFH - 57 (WWS & 120'), BCBS - 51, FF Eclipse - 22, SMS - 22, and KBS - 13. By styles:

    249 Imperial Stouts
    47 Barley Wine
    28 Imperial IPA

Every time I go to get something to drink, first consideration is if I have more than 2, especially on bombers because many I want to share and second is if it is easily replaceable. If not, then usually sit on them until can share...also keep adding for each year of BCS, KBS, SMS, FW, FF, etc., which is getting difficult as running out of storage space...

Have to host some share events and/or start buying more IPA's that can drink more quickly and cost less $$...
