Anyone have 2022 beer stats to share?

Here are mine. 279 beers consumed (counting by 12 ouncers). Pints from cans are 1.5, pints from tap are 1 (since they're often an oz or so short). This evens out pretty well, and I don't want to track ounces.

Top ten most common styles. I mostly follow the BA categories, although I do change them a little. For example most IPAs just get lumped in the IPA category. I don't drink many NE or hazy IPAs anyway. The lagers are all separated into sub-types. There are 11 categories listed, there was a tie for 10th.

    IPA 23%
    Fruit 7%
    Festbier 6%
    Pils 5%
    Dopplebock 4%
    Märzen 4%
    Maibock 4%
    Weizenbock 4%
    Hefeweizen 3%
    Kölsch 3%
    Dortmunder Lager 3%

IPAs are so high because many times when I go to a bar or restaurant, sometimes the lager selection is boring, so I end up getting either a Two Hearted or a Fantasy Factory. There were 35 other categories hit. I like to spread it around.

The most consumed specific beers were:

    Two Hearted
    Karben4 Fantasy Factory
    New Glarus Strawberry Rhubarb
    Paulaner Oktoberfest
    New Glarus 22 Pils
    Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold

Even though Two Hearted was the most consumed, I only had 14 of those. The Strawberry Rhubarb, I accidentally bought a couple extra four-packs.

Wisconsin beers were 43% of beer, followed by Germany at 14%, Michigan 7% and Illinois 6%.

    Let's see some stats!

Great idea. I keep a spreadsheet with an embarrassing amount of detail regarding the beers that I drink. Will post later on.

The one metric I leave out is the cost. But when I see that I drank ~990 beers last year it's easy to do the math.

    Cool thread idea @dcw6363 !

    2022 Leaders:

    Beers - Ounces Enjoyed

    • California - Beachwood
    • Illinois - Revolution (First Overall)
    • Indiana - 3 Floyds
    • Nevada - Tenaya Creek
    • Wisconsin - 3 Sheeps
    Brewery - Onsite Visits
    • Illinois - Revolution Brewery
    • Nevada - Tenaya Creek
    Beer Bars - Onsite Visits
    • Illinois - The Beer Temple
    • Nevada - The Silver Stamp
Beer Bottle Shops - Offsite Hauls
    • Illinois - Beer on the Wall Park Ridge (12)
    • Illinois - The Beer Temple (5)
I have a gap in my 2022 spreadsheet, and will provide exact ounce amounts if I finish my updates soon. That said, I’m 99% certain the above will reflect the final leaders.

Beer on the Wall sells singles, and is closest among my pure beer store shops. Mostly limited purchases this year to singles for NBW/NBS and style tastings, and Revolution Brewing beers.

Idk if I want to know my annual beer count/stats. I'm curious but I think I'll leave that 1 alone.

My favorite stat from 2022 is 25 new brewery visits during the year, meaning 25 breweries that I visited for the first time. I usually have a goal of 12 for the year (or about 1 a month), so 2022 was a good year!

That's a healthy statistic. You should post more reviews in the PLACES forum.

All in PA? I think Penn Brewing is the only PA brewery that I've visited (out of 600+) because I normally pass thru PA rather than stopping. I'll have to change that.

    Beers reviewed: 451
    Missouri Beers reviewed: 191
MO beer consumption 2022 percentage: 42.35%
MO beer consumption lifetime percentage: 29.24%
    Highest rating: 4.96
    Lowest rating: 3.2
    Average score: 4.157
    Average BA score: 4.166
    Average rDev: -0.13%
    Lifetime average rDev: 1.66%

Kinda wild to see rDev trending down; however, the caveat to that is that a lot of my reviews sit at a '0' rDev since I am the only review/rating for most local beers. Regardless, I have never seen my rDev number show up negative since taking up reviewing, so this is still a shocking number. Happy to see the MO line trending up steeply, though there was a time my lifetime MO beer review percentage sat at 30%. I'd say I'd be sitting closer to 30% (or above), but a lot of my reviews these days come via work trips.

Worth noting there are probably another 50+ beer notes sitting in my phone's note app that I have just haven't gotten around to reviewing for one reason or another. A good portion of that is local, and require being added to the system. Perhaps I'll take the time to do that this weekend or next and can provide more accurate stats for 2022.

May play around with my spreadsheet later and see what else I can come up with.

    Quick edit:
    Kansas beers: 23

One of my goals was to get across state line and review more. Clearly I did not make that happen.

It makes me happy to see all these STATS

I considered tracking by ounces, but I don't know what to do in bars when they don't fill up the pint glass ("is that 14 oz? 14.5? 15?"), or if I don't know how big the glass is in the first place.

At home it's easy enough (except when your spouse has some of your beer...), but in bars the OCD nit in me would be obsessing over whether that last pour was 15 oz or 14 oz. So I chose a shortcut

Bring a scale, then tare out the weight of the glass after you finish each beer.

That is a good point and something that gets me too. I don't drink out very often however, which helps. Usually I implement the eyeball-o-metric approach, which while not perfect it is unlikely to throw my stats off by a lot, as I drink mostly from cans.
