Sometimes you just totally disagree with the pack and stick to your guns. Here's my examples:
    Highest:
    1)Bud Light +48.4%(2.76)
I don't think this is a great beer, but I think there's a lot of people sick of everyone else drinking this.
    2)New Holland Black Hatter +25.5%(4.68)
I loved this beer, but it was one of the first I rated. I may retry next year to double check.
    3)Peroni Nasturo Azzuro +15.6% (3.19)
This beer is no frills and I don't love it,but I suspect it's mass availability might get it dinged by others.

    Lowest:
    1)Urban Chestnut Zwickel -24.5% (2.86)
There's something about this beer's flavor that makes me want to avoid it.
    2)New Glarus Totally Naked -22.2%(2.84)
I was vastly underwhelmed. Did not know of their status overall when I rated 3 of their standard beers and I wonder if this is a case of their beers getting higher props due to the love for their other beers.
2)4 Hands War Hammer Imperial IPA -22.2%(3.23)
I liked this beer, but for the price and all of the hype I was a bit disappointed. To be fair, I rated some great beers that week. Had Founders Doom and Stone Enjoy By IPA the day prior. Not just any IPA was going to get a high rating.

Thought this was a solid and unique beer.

One of my favorite readily available IPAs that can be found in Wyoming.

    Lowest:
    1)Sofie -20.9% (3.25)
Good beer but nothing special. Definitely have had a lot better saisons that don't get the hype this one recieves.
    2)Maharaja -19.4 (3.41)
Think this one wasn't fresh when I tried it. Wish Avery would date their bottles.
3)Sierra Nevada Tumbler Autumn Brown Ale -18.5% (3.13)
Just kind of a bland brown in my opinion. Disappointing as I love most Sierra Nevada brews.

Rogue Voodoo Maple Bacon: 36.1%: I thought is was really tasty for a rauchbier-ish style beer. Nose was really nice.

De Molen Bed & Breakfast: 28%: Had a ton of coffee and chili pepper flavors and was quite robust/balanced for the session beer area. I tend to enjoy most experimental brews though.

New Holland White Hatter: 24.8%: I bought a fresh bomber on release last year. Was perfectly balanced with the hop, spice, and yeast flavors. Hit all the right notes for me for a Belgian IPA.

    Lowest:

Dogfish Head Fort: -47.3%: Raspberry Vodka drainpour. Had it a while ago(2011) and was a ~3-4 year bottle at the time. Totally undrinkable. May have been a bad bottle due to store temp conditions, but I will probably never get to try it again unless dogfish makes it again.

Flying Dog Collaborator Doppelbock: -44.9%: Oxidized uncarbonated mess to the drain. I have no idea why I bought it lol

Saison Voisin: -42.2%: Another oxidized cardboard mess drainer. Tasted nothing like a saison.

I have quite a few deviations and some severe in both directions. Here we go -

Old Scratch Amber Lager at -31.6% - for the life of me I can't remember this beer but I was new and highly doubt that I even knew what an amber was supposed to taste like.

Smuttynose Shoals Pale Ale -31.3% - I remember this one. Had a creeping bitter that actually tore at the back of my throat.

Peak Organic IPA -24.7% -all the peak organic beers have a terrible vegetal taste to me, somthing bitter and liek cooked lettuce.

I am going to omit double zilla form the biggest positive deviation I had because I had it uberfresh on the day it was released.

Dogfish Head Theobroma + 15.4% - I will have more of this beer please!
Ommegang Iron Throne +14.9% - just a delightful beer
Sly Fox Helles Golden Lager - +14.7% I need to buy this one by the case.

I'm going to ignore ones I haven't got around to re-reviewing since I really got into it (2013 vs 2008), so here we go:

    My "underrated" brews:
Fiddlehead Brewing - Fiddlehead IPA - +26.9% (4.91), not really sure how to explain it other than it simply does it for me.
Long Trail - Blackbeary Wheat - +25.9% (3.89), I know, I know, I can't help it, I really can't defend my love for this one, even though I'm still only rating it "above average"
The Shed Brewery - Mountain Ale - +25.7% (4.65), here I will staunchly defend my rating, I rated the beer in its style category, which I am coming to find a lot of members on these sites simply don't do. I guess that's because members here aren't actual beer judges so to each their own there, but I review in the style category and I found this brew to be an exceptional example of an English Strong Ale.

    My "overrated" brews:
Switchback Ale - -28% (2.6), I just dont' get it, Switchback tastes like "blerch" to me, I'd rather have a PBR.
Knee Deep Brewing Company - Hop Shortage - -23.3% (3.06), this one just didn't do it for me, wasn't a fan, more and more I'm finding mediocrity in the sea of IIPAs, I guess that's the downside to trying so many.
Magic Hat - Blind Faith - -19.7% (2.86) - I don't have a taste for English hops for one, then you mix in this weird bitter apricot and too much breadiness, this is just meh to me, at least #9 is crisp.

I also liked the Voodoo Maple Bacon, but I split it with some friends and with that sweetness I think it might have been better in a 12 oz. My friends hated it so I ended up with most of it.

My top SIX are macros (including Leine, Stella, and Spaten). Amstel is my highest overall +rDev, but I still only gave it a 3.38. I think if you rate macros to style, some of them are surprisingly OK. Certainly, I think some are far better than others.

    Ignoring those, then, yields this:
Middle Ages ImPaled Ale: 4.4, +15.5%
I really liked it; what can I say? I was really surprised at how tasty it came across, since the other offering from MA I tried wasn't all that good.

Southern Tier Plum Noir: 4.21, +14.1%
I like a lot of ST offerings; this one was no exception. However, I rated this before I was big into porters and stouts; I have a feeling that if I go back and try it again, I won't be quite as impressed.

Long Trail Imperial Pumpkin Brush and Barrel Series: 4.16, +12.7%
My highest rated pumpkin beer. The pumpkin is not overpowering, and it sits on a very good base of beer.

For the lowest rDev, I'm going to ignore my hads; 4 out of my bottom 7 are hads (for whatever reason), and I won't hold that against them.

    Redd's Apple Ale: 2.18, -19%
I am shocked that this beer has an average of 2.69. It is quite possibly the worst thing that I have ever put in my mouth. Then again, I haven't been to prison.

    Bud Light: 1.55, -16.7%
Of all the macros, this is probably my least favorite. I 100% blame Bud Light for my pre-craft notion that bitter = skunky => bitter = bad. I avoided IPAs for years solely because I thought Bud Light was a bitter beer. Turns out it was just an unbelievably shitty beer.

Midnight Sun Sockeye Red IPA: 3.21, -15.5%
I thought maybe the bottle wasn't all that fresh, but it didn't really seem to be the case. It just came across as a complex malt and hop blend that just didn't work for me. As I mentioned in my review, I'm just not sure what audience they were targeting, because for my palate, it completely missed the mark as an IPA.

Meh, to each his/her own. Prost!

Rhinelander takes me back to college days. Haven't had that version. I remember their bock having a very heavy diacetyl flavor (I did not know it at the time). I couldn't even pass it off to other college kids.
Olde English is rough, but as far as malt liquor goes there are much worse out there. I don't think I'll be reviewing those. Maybe if I lost a bet.

It really wasn't that bad, just a bit generic. The Olde English rating probably came after a game of Edward Fortyhands, as that's the last time I can think of where I would even have had malt liquor.

This irritates me as well. Why do people who admit to not liking IPAs choose to rate them poorly? I don't care for sours, but when I do drink them (which is rarely), I either don't rate them or rate them for what they are - not what I think they should be.
