Sounds like something went wrong in your bottle. I finished my last bottle of 2011 about a month after you and it was one of my favorite beers I've ever had. Had some on tap in the summer though, and it went bad similar to how you described, only with the added grossness of spoiled berries somewhere in there. terrible. Seems like the examples that remain are pretty hit or miss. Such a shame, one of my favorites.

I remember the disappointment from Infinium. Basically it was "I paid how much for This?"
I'm also trying to understand what the deal is with New Glarus. Tried Spotted Cow,Moon Man,Totally Naked, and Two Women Lager. Nothing special yet...

It's fun to look over these stats occasionally.

    Highest:
Terrapin Big Daddy Vlady: 4.72, +27.9%. I found an old bottle & had it with about 18-24 months of age and loved it. I'd love them to make this again.
Joseph James Hop Box: 3.93, +17%. Perhaps setting factored into my score- I was amazed at how awful the beer selection was in Vegas. This was a fresh and tasty DIPA after I'd had several complete disappointments.
Bruery 5 Golden Rings: 4.13, +16.7%. I guess I'm one of the few people that enjoyed the pineapple and wasn't bothered by this being a strong pale rather than a strong dark. I'm looking forward to trying the barrel aged version soon.

    Lowest:
Porterhouse Oyster Stout: 1.65, -55%. A nasty, salty, thin, weak, undrinkable mess. And yes- I've had a decent oyster stout before.
New Albanian Hoptimus IPA: 1.84, -49%. The singe worst IPA that I've ever put in my mouth. Was it an old bottle? A bad bottle? Do the brewer and I have vastly different tastes? I'm not sure but I never plan on drinking it again.
Dogfish/Sierra Nevada Rhizing Bines: 2.04, -44.1%. How can 2 awesome breweries completely fail at an IPA? Maybe it was the hops they used or perhaps just a different vision from them than I prefer. Not at all to my liking.

    High:
Squatter's Outer Darkness (+17.9%): Hell of a RIS. I find this to be quite an underrated brew.
Sublimely Self Righteous (+15.4%): My favorite black IPA which happens to probably be my favorite style next to DIPAs. My favorite year round offering from Stone.
St Lupulin (+15%): My favorite APA. I actually prefer it to Odell's regular IPA (not as good as Myrcenary though).

    Low:
Bud Light Platinum (-55%): Despicable stuff.
Camo Black Ice (-49.2%): Even more despicable stuff. It's like quaffing motor oil or nail polish.
Dos Equis (-45.3%): I don't always drink this stuff, but when I do I regret it.

    3 Highest:

    1) Mr. Goroboros (APA, Half Acre) : 23.3% - I thought this was really good; the fresh hops gave it a really, well, fresh taste. Apparently most others didn't feel the same way.
    2) Sapporo (Japanese Rice Lager) : 19.9% - I've seen this described as the "best bad beer," which I think is kinda fitting. It's great ice cold though; it's got a nice clean taste to it.
    3) Navaja (DIPA, Half Acre): 17.6% - This is currently probably my favorite beer (although Coconut Rye is gaining on it). Again, I get that favorite IPAs/DIPAs are kind of like favorite pizzas; everyone is different, but I thought this one was just perfect.

    3 Lowest:

    1) Corona Extra: -23.2% - I hate this beer. It's possible that I hate something like Milwaukee's best or Budlight more, but I haven't had either of the latter two recently enough to give them a numerical rating. Corona's only saving grace is being ice cold with some lime in it. Even then, I'm not happy if I'm drinking it.
    2) The Oracle: -11.3% - This is a good beer, maybe really good. But it was too bitter for me (I'm not huge on bitterness, even though I'm a huge hop head), and the night I had it, I really wasn't in the mood for bitter. Will give this one another shot some time.
    3) Green Flash Palate Wrecker (DIPA): -10.1% - This one was just boring to me; it was certainly a palate wrecker, but not in the more controlled and flavorful manner of Ruination. Again, not a bad beer, but I didn't love it as others seem to.

    Highest -
Bruery - Ebony And Oak +51.3% (4.75) - Loved this beer when it was newer. Had it again a few months later, and the sourness was starting to become more evident. I wouldn't have given this one nearly as high a rating the second time.
Rogue - Voodoo Doughnut Chocolate, Banana & Peanut Butter Ale +50.5% (4.2) - I think this is a love it or hate it beer for most people. I loved it.
Hermitage - Ale of the Hermit +48.7% (4) - Don't know what the deal is here. Only had this one once, but I enjoyed it, apparently much more than most.

Lowest (I would try all of these again if they were given to me, to give them a second chance) -
Alpine - Nelson -77.5% (1) - I only give 1's to drain pours. This was undrinkable to me. Maybe I had an old bottle? I don't know. It tasted like pure bitter hop juice to me. I couldn't drink it. Maybe I'm just not hard-core enough of an IPA fan. It also may have been early in my "beer career" and I may just not have enjoyed IPA's much at the time.
Sam Adams - Hallertau Imperial Pilsner -75.4% (1) - Same deal as above.
Victory - Braumeister Pils -75.2% (1) - Don't remember why I disliked this one so much.

    2. Budweiser +28.8% - I don't mind drinking regular bud, not great but not bad
    3. Miller Genuine Draft +21.7% - same here, I'll drink it

    Lowest
    1. Stone IPA -23.3% - it is very likely I had a bad bottle or something past it's prime but I had it once and hated it. I'll give it another shot b/c it seems strange that this would be way off when I like their other IPAs.
    2. Stone Vertical Epic 12.12.12 -23.3% - hmm another Stone beer, I thought this one was just gross, tasted like clove cigs. I am not a huge fan of clove. Drain poured it.
    3.

Uinta Birthday Suit. +27.5%. I just haven't run into a sour I didn't like yet.
Reinaert Flemish Wild. +27.2%. Same idea as the first, but I loved this one and gave it a "5". Wonderful sour in every way.
Thomas Creek Chocolate Orange IPA. +25.7%. I didn't get any chocolate or orange, just a damn good IPA.

    Lowest
Laughing Dog Anubis a Imperial Coffee Porter. -60.2%. Infected.
Heavy Seas Black Cannon. -47.4%. Worst black IPA I've tasted. And I was fed up with the brewery at the time of tasting. Can't find any of their beer I enjoy.
Stone Oak Smoked Old Guardian. -29.7%. I love the normal beer. The odd year release was drain poured. Twice.

Agreed. I think their Thumbprint Series is pretty fantastic… but their rotating 6 packs and fruit beers never have really done anything for me.
