I would say 8% give or take, so went with 7-9. Which happens to be inclusive for Hop Ju Ju!

Single IPAs and stronger Pale Ales are my go to so 6.0 to 7.5 is the wheelhouse. I voted 5 to 7.

    I wanted a 6-8% option, but since it wasn't there i went 7-9.

It would be 6-8% but the tiniest edge to the 5-7% crowd over 7-9% mostly from avoiding palate fatigue. It truly does depend on style though, so decadent stouts and Belgian quads over 10% can certainly be welcome as can a well crafted pilsner or English mild well under 5%.

Would be giving up too many beers I love with 7-9... Double-digit gang all day

I get incredibly impressed at a 14% stout which leaves you wondering "Where is that booze?"

But, give me a full flavored 6.5-7.5 abv IPA any day. I've really gone off DIPAs recently, for the most part. They have to really not push the sweetness in order for me to find it palatable.

I feel like 3.14% is a well rounded ABV =P

I personally like the 5.5's to 8's (Dogfish 60 or A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale per se) but it depends on the day/mood. I do like an Old Rasputin, Ten Fidy or a Devil Dancer but honestly my cellar has gotten a bit big because of that. I have a few cellared 12's that I just don't have the proper day to hit them.

When I want a simple brew on a weeknight, I sometimes find myself stuck with nothing reasonable & cold... A Devil Dancer on a Tuesday is not reasonable at my age (throw a Yuengling Black and Tan in the freezer if u have a few minutes to wait? ) ;^)

I considered doing that, but since 5% is still widely considered "average" and sessionable, I figured it didn't belong in the same category as 7%+ beer, which at that point is medium-strong and nearly double/imperial.

I do, too. I like beer from all over the abv spectrum. I just find these kinds of questions and challenges interesting.

7-8.5 for ipas and up to 10 for stouts.

Having a high tolerance can be awesome and suck at the same time. I'm with you and it takes a lot to get me drunk, I like that I can drink a lot of low alcohol beer at social stuff and not worry about making a fool of myself, but it sucks to have to drink a lot of high alcohol beer or hard liquor to get a buzz.

I'd have to go 9-12, I would hate giving up IPA's but could live with DIPA's and I could enjoy BA stouts forever... The beer would be free than right :sunglasses::grinning::grinning::slight_smile:

This, but because of style, not ABV.
If I'd never had a gose, or certain 12%+ beers, I could live with 7-10% (I'm making my own categories. ) , but now, I can't pick one.

I don't typically drink that much low abv stiff. ( no Time) so when I drink I have one high quality beer. So I would probably go with the 9-12. I might go with any higher and I lose pretty much all ipas

I tend to like 5-7% because I can have a 12oz at a taproom and still drive. If I have a 12oz of a 13%, then I'm not comfortable doing that even though I'm 6'4" and 260. When I drink a high ABV beer, particularly a bomber, I multiply the ABV by ounces, divide by 50.4, and get the equivalent number of 12oz 4.2% ABV beers. I had a bomber last night that was the equivalent of 5.7 "normal" beers. That's a lot, particularly since I don't usually drink a lot or often. If a beer is 5-7% then not only will I be able to safely partake, I can be reasonably sure that the alcohol taste won't mask the other tastes.

5 to 7, really 4.5 to 7.5. Higher and it's a one and done type of beer that I'd really only drink at home. Lower and it's not worth paying for, not when it's the same price of beer in the 5 to 7 range.

Twelve to fifteen is my sweet spot, but that would mean no more dogfish head 120....
