Your beer ritual

Currently it is changing into comfy clothes after I get home from work and using my new DBB bottle opener to crack open a bottle of whatever I feel like having. Sometimes I even make dinner if it is not already made.

 

I'm retired.....I don't have a ritual. Eat your hearts out, folks, you'll be there someday.

 

I get off of work at different times depending which day of the week it is. But anyways, most of the time I get back at around 8PM or so and then I take off my unpleasant work clothing to sit in the living room by myself with my fine beverage for the evening. You also must take into understanding that after I do this I am generally sitting in a dark room and some times I have my cat buddy with me to enhance the experience.

 

I usually don't open a beer until 630 or later, since I don't drink before the gym and I'm trying to hit the gym every day.

 

Open, pour, drink, repeat

 

(Until this post made me stop to think about it I didn't realize how detailed ritual is)

1. Figure out number of calories I have left for the day (I am a calorie counter). Select a beer that will fit in this range.
2. Take beer out of fridge to warm up
3. Either put kids to bed OR ride my stationary bike
4. Get beer and take it to my office.
5. Slowly and carefully remove cap in case I keep it
6. Drink and review
7. Read beeradvocate (after I form my opinion) to see if there are flavors that other people get that I don't

 

1. Crash in office after chores, drinking a beer, and surfing web
2. Cat enters office to take dump
3. Retch, and move everything out to the living room.

 

I like my beer before lunch. I always take a photo and check in over in WBAYDN . =)

 

Go through the beer fridge in the garage and pick out the 1-3 beers that I'm going to have, bring them inside (I'm less tempted to smoke this way), hit the couch or the man cave...pull up BA, read my review (unless it's recent of Sucks or something like that)...if not there, write one. Rinse out glass. Repeat

 

I like my beer sitting on the patio, smoking a pipe, buck naked aside from either a pirate or viking hat depending on my mood. Once a parakeet landed on my shoulder, I cant remember if I was wearing the pirate or viking hat but its no matter. It was such a euphoric experience the beer tasted as if it were drawn from the teet of a unicorn.

 

Greet family...say hi to pets. Some days I don't have a beer, some days I wasn't planning on it but my wife has something planned for dinner that really needs a beer to complete the experience. Other days I'll know I'm gonna have a beer before I ever walk in the door.

What happens next depends on the weather. Spring/Summer/Fall: Review the various fridges and choose a beer...either based on mood or on what we're having for dinner. Then select an appropriate glass. Pour the beer, take a picture of it with the container and retire to the sun porch. There I can watch the wildlife, enjoy the weather, and savor my beer. After it's about 3/4 gone I'll start thinking about a review. I don't review here, but I'm an untappd nerd and I usually including tasting comments with my checkins. At that point I check in the beer with the picture and notes.

The only difference during the winter is that I sit by the fireplace and put my feet up to savor my beer. Usually a cat or dog is on my lap within 5 minutes.

Sometimes I have beer on tap, and those times I just drink what's on tap. The last keg I had was Fresh Squeezed, but that was almost a year ago. I did some upgrades to the kegerator so I'll be tapping something soon. Exactly what I don't know yet. I would love to get some TG, but last I knew they were only selling kegs to bars.

 

Comfy clothes after work is always a good first step.

Generally I'll grab that something-new 'ticker' beer to try with a clean palate and then onward through some favorites. Unless I'm not in the mood for something new and just want a drink (i.e. don't want to think about it after a hard workday), I'll grab a glass of something enjoyable and sit down to mind meld in front of the t.v. until my wife gets home.

 

I end class every day around 7:30 and tend to have meetings late into the night so most of the time I return home it's around midnight. If I haven't managed to eat beforehand I start up something on the stove if I feel like I have time. Then I step over to the beer fridge and pick my poison. I tend to drink something different as much as I can but I've nearly exhausted my local shop's selection. These days have been a lot of fruity IPAs and Belgian Whites...

 

Mostly enjoy a beer or two with dinner. Whenever I play FIFA I need a beer it seems. If it is really nice out will sit on the deck enjoying a glass of something, contemplate the meaning of life and all that.

 

Unless I'm on vacation, I usually drink only on Wednesday's and twice on the weekends (usually Friday and Sunday). Normally, I put my youngest son to bed at 9:00 pm, open a bomber, and get into my chair to either read or watch TV with my wife. However, on Sunday's in the late afternoon, I often have a bomber or a couple of 12 oz while playing games or cards with the family.

i only drink on weekend before the evening meal, usually only one beer and sometimes a glass of wine during the meal. Most of the times it's strong enough. I wish i could drink more, but i feel guilty drinking in the week. As anybody has some cure for this or it's ok?

 

Grab can of Ten Fidy. Insert key in bottom of can. Raise newly-formed keyhole to mouth, turn can vertical. . . . then SHOTGUN!!!!

 

Put beer in mouth.
Swallow.
Repeat.

 

No, no, no, that's too sensible. Arrg, I meant to say simple. Stuff like that could get me kicked out of the BeerGeek Club.
