For all the people saying that Ballast Point is a bad deal......
Are you aware that a Victory at Sea 6 pack goes for 14 around here?? I'm calling that a great deal.

For all of the people saying The Bruery, I will agee that some of there regular offerings are slightly over priced there special stuff could easily sell for double.

Considering local breweries where I have personally tried more than one of their beers:

Best value: Summit Brewing, and it is not even close. No clunkers, and a lot of outstanding beers. Regular lineup is ~$7 a 6 pack and ~$11 a 12 pack of 12 oz bottles/cans. Even their generally outstanding special releases are reasonably priced.

Worst value: none, really, covering the entire brewery. There are a few small startups who only bottle in bombers that are overpriced for the quality of the beer, and some of the established locals who have produced some drek (at least, going by the ones I tried), but it isn't fair to tag any with the "worst brewery" label, IMO.

Very similar to Bruery thoughts - package size is overwhelming, pricing is high across the board (bottles in my local sell for $20 and up). Just not AS expensive as the Bruery, but it was close for me.

I have to agree with the OP.
Best has got to be Lagunitas. $5 for Hop Stoopid is the best deal for a bomber of that quality on the market.
Worst is definitely Bruery. There's alot of beers I'd like to try by them, but I can't fathom the extremely high prices.

How is almost anything Weyerbacher sells a bad value? I mean, even if you don't like the beer, it's not even close to being overpriced. Big beer variety case sells for under $50 around here, Tiny is usually found for ~$6-7 for a 750, Riserva is half what a lot of other breweries charge for their wild ales.

They make world class beers in 750's for a very fair price. There most exensive beer I have see was 20$ for Abraxas. FOr the quality of that beer it is an absolute steal. The Bruery, Perennial, Side Project, Hill Farmstead ect. These breweries are not making a "drink a 6 pack after work beer" these beers need to be looked at more like wine. In that regard they are severly underpriced.

Take wine for example. To get a world class bottle of wine you are looking at 100's of dollars potentially. Now look at beer. You take beers like bourbon county bombers, bruery special releases, ect and $30 for something world class is suddendly a great deal.

Also the package size aregument is a joke. 1. These should be shared and enjoyed with others. 2. In the event that this doesnt work out cellar it for another day. 3. If you do drink it it is not even two pints of beer.

Was thinking the same thing - especially when he said "SMS-excluded." Leads me to believe he just doesn't like their beers. Personally, Weyerbacher was one of the breweries that got me into craft beer.

I was there on a Monday a few weeks ago for happy hour. We were downing pints of Pliny at $3.50 each. I almost felt bad paying so little for it.

    $8-9/bomber is definitely not a value. That's a $26-30 six pack.

Worst Value: Every bomber ever. Even the $5 bombers people are calling "cheap" are equivalent to a $16.36/six pack.

Ill say Im with you. Ive only had one of the fifty fifty eclipse series. Bought the high west rye whiskey impy stout from 2014 I think it was. It was good, but jesus not worth 35+tax.. I was expecting it to be mind blowing. I sympathize because having the variety of barrels that they do and keeping track of different barrels with different beers would be unbelievably expensive. It really really would. But 35 a bomber just seems unsustainable and Ive had bombers of BA impy stouts that honestly were better and a third of the price..

Which is probably why it is packaged in bombers to make it available at a reasonable price. I dont want a 17$ 6pack of Hop Stoopid, however a 4$ bomber is perfect.
