When you've been drinking a certain stye consistently for a while, what different style do you usually drink to give your taste buds a break? Or if the style has gone a bit stale for you? I usually get this way with IPA's and when that occurs, I'll buy a sixer or a 12 pack of Genny Cream Ale or PBR. I'm getting to that point right now. What does everyone here transcend to when the palate gets a bit tired with a particular favorite?

I drink a lot of stouts and quads most of which are barrel aged, so for me, I like a nice IPA in between to clean things up a bit. I don't drink IPA's otherwise, but I do really enjoy them sandwiched in between some heavy stuff. In my fridge I have Jai Alai and some Gubnas..but any will do.

I seldom drink the same style beer two nights in a row so I'm almost always changing pace.

At the moment I have about 8 different styles in the fridge and tonight I'll decide which to have depending on my mood and which one looks best to me when I make a choice.

I usually switch it up from IPAs to DIPAs. If those get stale, I might throw in a pale ale or two, before I go back to IPAs.

I don't usually get to the point of really being tired of a style, but I'll sometimes go from PA / IPA to a porter / stout kick now and then, or milds, saison / Belgian, etc.

I take the intellectually lazy approach and buy what's on sale.

If I'm feeling like I need a break from IPA's, I enjoy a nice red ale or a dark lager.

I don't get into a pace that needs changing (to turn the phrase around...).

Right now, in my 'fridge I have 8 styles of beer from 11 different brewers. I keep it mixed up all the time.

The styles I drink everyday fluctuate so much that I really don't have a style to use as a break.

If I want something I can just throw back, I'll opt for a PBR, or Stag. If I want something to mix up the taste buds, and sip slow, I'll go for a wild ale.

Big beers are my "change of pace". Usually drink fairly light styles most of the time.

Me too. I now keep a few Stiegl Radlers on hand. We walk 4.5 miles a day, so on mowing day an afternoon (post mowing) Radler drains the heat and humidity completely away.

My buying habits lend themselves to palate cleansing fridge variety. Typically I buy beer twice a week and go out to a bar once a week on top of that. One buying session is usually high end craft (Wednesday is Heady day at the bevy a few minutes from me) and one is fridge filling from the supermarket, to save $$ for that bar tab. This week I bought a pack of Coors Banquet cans, last week it was All Day IPA on sale.

This leads to a nice variety of flavors and I don't get bored or spend too much unless I take a trip to Hill Farmstead. That shit gets expensive.

My go-to style is stout which I drink 90% of the time, so to keep it interesting I'll throw in porter, brown, hefeweizen, kolsch - anything not extremely bitter or sour.

My change of pace beer is usually something from Anchor, either Anchor Steam Beer or California Lager. I've also been enjoying a good amount of Summerfest as I've been trying to avoid hoppy beers on a regular basis except for those I want to review.

I like a nice Hefeweizen. I love all styles, but the big hops punch of IPAs tends to win out. I'm a musician and I have a gig once a week in which the limited selection, at the venue, includes Stella, Lagunitas IPA, Brooklyn Lager and Paulaner Hefeweizen. I often choose the Paulaner, with the BL coming in a close second.
