You may need to try it again.. its one of the more complex barleywines I can remember drinking recently

Oh so this. BCBBW doesn't hold a candle to MOAS, Sucaba or even Cockeyed Cooper. Totally overrated on brand recognition alone.

We have very spirited discussions here as well as people with all sorts of opinions. The thing is to do is to express yourself without belittling others.

Pliny- super clean and bright hops, but not worth the hype.
Dark Lord- straight molasses and brown sugar syrup. Probably better on pancakes than in a snifter.

I sometimes find it helpful to read the reviews others post (when they rate the beer) to see if my thoughts align with any other BA's. That is an alternate method to posting in the forums here.

Back to the forum, I would have to say HF Damon. I did enjoy the port variation, though. Have never had DBD.

Pretty sure the thread title was something like does Sucks really suck? Nice leading title and non-opinion forming at all.

Founders CBS, wow, such a let down, scored a bottle, cracked it within a month of buying at around the release date, good stout, but kinda bland, split it with 2 other buddies, had a miles Davis after, that blew CBS away.

Next, Founders Doom, what a mess of a beer that was, tasted like sweet peat, over the top coconut and zippy hops start to finish, I've resigned myself that I don't really enjoy the Founders backstage series...

I do have a sweet repute that I'm interested to share at some point, but have low expectations...so, hoping with low expectations that I'll enjoy it.

Elder imo is not overrated, same with HT, and abrasive are all amazing.

I did. You won't change my mind, as the experience was that lackluster. I have four bottles left.

They can call it what they want, but to me it's an IPA....not a Pale Ale. Comparing it to Pliny and HT is a bit of stretch though, I agree with you there.

Completely disagree. I'd take BCBBW over all of the beers that you just mentioned. I've had them all. There are only a few BWs that I think are better, and they are King Henry (almost the same beer IMO), K-13, with Cigar City Leon being the best of them all.

I would say Pliny and Heady Topper. While both were great beers, the scarcity of the beer and the hype in my head before trying them left me slightly disappointed

and I'm not. Had this at Extreme Beer Fest at the Cyclorama a few years back (2009? no idea) Was not into sours at that point. Dumped out my sample and had to get a new glass. Tasted like foot juice from a brewer who had emptied his boots out into a glass after a long day of brewing. My buddy said the same. A friend I met there said "Man, this stuff is so good, I could drink a tall glass of this on the deck on a warm summers night". We called BS on him But now I see I was in the wrong..

Dark Lord De Muerte was terrible. I feel sorry for anyone that paid $50 for it.
