I'm from Detroit Michigan and I'm an avid beer consumer. I always look for new beers whenever I'm at my local beer hot spots. Maybe I'm being biased when I say Michigan turns out the best beer. But I also have a theory that someones taste in beer may be based on the region they grew up in. So I'm interested in what everyone else thinks. My top 3 are as follows:
    1. Michigan
    2. Illinois
    3. Colorado

I live in Illinois. I am biased toward Illinois not just because I like our breweries but becuase being in the middle of the country helps get distribution form both coasts as well as the midwest stuff. That said:
    1. California: Extremely impressed by the breweries in this state including a few that don't distribute elsewhere.
    2. Illinois: Two Brothers, Revolution, Metropolitan, Pipeworks etc can hold their own, FFF is distributed here, I can drive 45 minutes to get New Glarus stuff, we get most of the Michigan and Wisconsin stuff (Founders, Bells, Central Waters, Tyranena, etc) and we get a good amount of beer from both coasts. Being in the middle also helps for travel and shipping costs (not that I trade, but for the breweries).
    3. Michigan: Really impressed by their breweries but we get most of their stuff here

I'm biased since it's my home state, but I'll say Ohio. Between Hoppin' Frog, Great Lakes, and Fat Head's (along with several others), good ole' OH has it going on.

Up and coming. I will go with Ohio. We have an abv limit of 12% but we have some brutal beer.

I've heard great things about Oregon beer but I don't see much of it in MI. I wish I did.

Isn't this kind of like the thread about "What states with desert islands containing the 5 best beer cities would you want just one lawnmower beer on a budget for the rest of your life to drink as long as it didn't taste different than last year while you're on the island?"

For many, might as well just ask people where they live!

5thOhio, no! Not at all. It's a thread about which states brew your favorite beers.
