    OK I think I came up with an original thread topic—time will tell if it turns out to be a dud. If it does, that’s all right.

    Throughout its rich and ancient history, brewing has accumulated countless words and phrases—technical terminology, slang, jargon, etc. Wort. Sparge. Reinheitsgebot. Skunked. The list goes on. What’s your favorite brewing term and why?

    After not much too thought I’m going with zymurgy. I like scientific words and it starts with Z. Cheers!

    Flocculation. My friend the chemist slash home brewer taught me about it years ago, and it felt like I suddenly had some fascinating insider knowledge.

    I was going to pick a whole bunch of words like decoction and wort, but the two most commonplace ones that we take for granted that would confound your average non-beer-drinking person would probably be "mouthfeel" and "head retention".

    Sparge/sparging... I doubt porchbomb/murkbomb/maltbomb have made it into the brewer's dictionary yet.
