My local bottle shop just got the entire JP line in bombers... wooo!

I'm trying to develop a taste for sour notes- I've enjoyed them in a few beers now, and want to experiment with more. I know JP is famous for this.

All I've had is La Roja and Bam Biere. Which one to pick up next!?

Oro de Calabeza is my favorite of the regular line up. Still have a couple from 2006 and they are driniking awesome right now. Just the right amount of tartness to them, and a touch of the barrel....great beer!

Hard to choose between Oro de Calabaza and La Roja for my favorites. I guess it would depend on my mood and what I'm craving.

Going to go with Noel de Calabaza, and La Roja GR, though, I like all of them.

Not to threadjack but from time to time I have seen the normal JP releases in 12 oz. bottles. What's the story with those?

It's between Bambic and La Roja Grand Reserve. I thought Bambic was really balanced and I loved the funk. I love the horseradish from La Roja Grand Reserve. Ridiculous flavor!

If you're talking about actual standard 12 oz. bottles then those are pretty damn old. When Jolly Pumpkin first started bottling that's what they used. We'd be talking 2004/2005 for dates if I remember correctly. If you're talking about those stubby 11.2 oz bottles then that's a different story. They mostly use those for their special releases but occasional bottle regular releases for consumption at the pub in them as well. As far as I know Oro de Calabaza and Bam Noire are the only beers from their regular line up that have been available in these.

I've always been a fan of Calabaza Blanca. A nice mix of tartness and wheat.

Very hard to pick a favorite, but you can't go wrong with Oro De Calabaza. That Maracaibo Especial is mighty fine as well.
