I have gotten to where I always stop in small towns and check out the liquor stores looking for old Sofia, Matilda and Pepe Nego for this purpose, they aged it for me. Found some in my parents home town that had a couple of years on it.

Sorachi Ace is one of my favorite, but I picked up a six pack of Long Table from NB the other day and i think I will start keeping this around, good and good price point

Hill Farmstead is popping up all around NY State on tap-lists. Their saisons are certainly world class albeit on the highly hopped end (although so is Tank 7, another BA fav according to this thread). I'd also recommend Farmer's Table from Kent Falls Brewery. They've also been popping up around NY state tap-lists and I've been thoroughly impressed with their offerings.

Sunshower by trillium (had el dorado and the centennial versions) are by far my favorites. I have citra sunshower in my fridge now. This series blew my mind on the style personally. Dorothy by hill farmstead and Sofie by goose island are the next best and then I feel there is the rest of the pack that are close.

Another one would be Off Color Apex Predator, but not sure you can get it in NY. Their website says, available in Chicago, outside of that, you are on your own. I had a coworker that went to Chicago every other month and I'd have him bring me that and Off Color Troublesome.

Both regular Saison Dupont, and Cuvee Dry Hopped are two of my favorite beers that sit on the shelf.
    Thiriez Blond
More from Dupont...Avec Les Bons Voeux and Foret
    De Glazen Saison D'Erpe-Mere

    Some American examples:
Boulevard Saison Brett, Collaboration No 4
Logsdon...Seizoen, Seizoen Bretta, Oak Aged Bretta, Szech'n Brett, and anything else they do.
    Prairie Hop and Prairie Ale
    Jolly Pumpkin Baudelaire IO
    Ommegang Glimmerglass and Hennepin
And I can go on and on. Arguably my favorite style, outside of a few from the UK. Probably because of the very broad range this particular style allows.

Avec Les Bons Voeux is the best I have ever had. Honorable mention to Boulevard Tank 7, Saison Dupont, and Ommegang's Glimmerglass and Hennepin. I'm currently sitting on bottles of Logsdon Seizoen Bretta and Fantôme Pissenlit, both of which I'm really excited to try.

Casey's Saison is one of my favorites (especially aged a few months). I have been trading for other high rated saisons to do them all side by side. Looking forward to that share!

While not a huge saison fan, I have always enjoyed Hennepin. Under the funk there is a weird, wonderful "Juicy fruit gum" thing going on (for me anyway). Always takes me back to my childhood.

Any saison from Hill Farmstead, Casey Brewing and blending, Side Projects, Allagash, Crooked Stave, and SARA.

These saisons are really refreshing: Dupont saison, Avril, and dry hopped dupont saison.

These saisons are very rustic: Brasserie Bluagies Le Moneuse, La Vermontoise and Saison D'Epeautre.

Oxbow has cranked out three that I really like: Stillbow Oxtisanal, Farmhouse Pale Ale, and barrel aged Farmhouse Pale Ale.

Other random honorable mentions: Boulevard Saison Brett, Anchorage Love Buzz saison, Grassroots Brother Siogne, Jester King El Cedaro and Mad Meg farmhouse provision ale.

You also want to seek out some table beers like Avril. At 3 to 4% abv and it has alot of flavor with crisp refreshing carbonation. I really dig a good table beer, which is kind of like a really low abv saison.

i love saisons. Every time I have a tank 7 I am stunned by how good it is. Had the saison Brett and liked it as well but it might have been a tad strong on the funk. But now I have a saison Brett aging so I can see just how funky it gets. Just an experiment I guess

Prairie Hop is great. If you ever get to the Conroe, TX area (near Houston), B-52 Brewing has a rye saison that is tasty!

I have had one of their Saison Hop Series, not sure if this was used as the base, if so, you are correct.

Ask for a break on price, I mean you are doing them a favor and buying old beer, right?

Also, fantome makes saisons that are vey distinct. Tank 7 isnt even close, you would be better off drinking a dupont, or even a sofie or funkwerks. Not sure why everyone is suggesting a hop bomb when the beer you enjoyed wasn't...

I'm kicking myself in the ass over Sophie. It was always at both bottle shops I frequent when I started heavily into craft beer, but was reluctant to try Saison's. Now that I do like Saison's, Sophie is nowhere to be found. I will have to see if they can get some again.

Yeah I am eyeing about 10 bottles at my local Kroger, about ready to go in and ask them if they will sell them for a discount, they have been there for 1+ year. Letting them age them.
