I'm not generally a fan of the Session IPA trend either, but do remember that breweries are more than anything still businesses with bottom lines. If beers like All Day are their big money-makers, they're going to continue making them. It would be a poor business decision not to.

Terrapin-Recreationale is pretty legit, and it comes in 12 packs. Alot of folks have mentioned pricing of 6 packs, but All Day is available in 15 packs. These breweries figured out a way to give the consumer a good bang for their buck. It would be nice to see more of this.

And while I do share your view to a certain extent (for example, it'd be just about suicide for a brewery to not have at least one regular IPA in their portfolio), just because everyone else is selling them doesn't mean you have to try to make one too. Sure, if you enjoy the session IPA "style" and think you can make a good one, go for it. But I feel like some of these breweries don't even care about the "style" and are just like "Well, even though they're not that impressive, I guess we'd better make one so we don't miss out on an opportunity to make some money." Founders' motto is "Beer Brewed for Us" so I hope that the higher-ups in that company truly do enjoy session IPAs or else they're going against their creed.

Of the ones I have had, Fat Heads Sunshine Daydream is by far the best. Great smell and taste. Lots of citrus and tropical fruits. I would drink this frequently if it was locally available to me.

There are some assumptions in this reply which I'm not sure about.
It isn't the job of beer to be "impressive" , there are so many easy drinking beers around which are sheer delight without trying to blow you away.
A successful brewery matches its output to the demand from its customers. It's just as important for a brewer to make money as it is to brew beer because it can't have one without the other.
Right enough, as in my previous post a "session" beer should make you want to drink another and another. There are many low ABV beers which I find tiresome instead.
Guinness is just a touch too strong for the "session" appellation but that doesn't stop Irish drinkers from treating it like one!

For store bought, All Day IPA. Northern Brewer's Kama Citra is very good. Has a touch more body and a little higher ABV. Not sure it's technically considered a session IPA but in my opinion it's a great session IPA.

There are plenty of styles that I don't like but I respect the craft, history and tradition behind them.

Session IPAs are a newly created sub-style meant to cash in on the hoppy beer craze. There is no history or tradition - they are glorified hop water.

The worst part is that good craft brewers are wasting precious tank space on these beers. Instead, they could be making low alcohol beers with flavor.

Of course, each craft brewer has the right to brew whatever it wishes to brew. If you want to support their choice to make boring tasteless beer that is your prerogative.

I've had a few really good ones, but the only one that stands out is AleWerks's Shorty Time IPA. Probably because I go to college in Williamsburg so it's always around and it was the first one I had. So. Biases. I have them.

I agree with Notch Left of the Dial. A very different IPA. More tropical and juicy than most. Granted it's not much on the bitterness scale, but I enjoyed it.

I don't know of any other style that is as certain to bring the detractors out in mass at its mere mention. Personally I enjoy a decent session IPA (Lawson's Super Session #2 was my most recent find), since I often want to have a couple of flavorful beers without getting drunk. Not every beer has to be high abv, barrel aged, or imperial.

The same people that get so angry at the existence of session IPAs seem to be perfectly fine with breweries producing yet another standard IPA, or a bland pale lager to pacify the Bud drinkers. Relax, there's plenty of room for diversity in brewing, and session IPAs are easily avoided if you don't like them.

All Day is still the gold standard for me in this category. Wish I could get Boat Beer again, though I didn't consider it an IPA at the time.

That's crazy. Go To was such a bright, hop forward beer I can't think how it can leave you wanting. Maybe you just want alcohol, or like a heavier malt base. In which case Daytime should do the job, or Easy Jack.

I think Go To is more hop-forward than ruination. Extremely bitter, aromatic, just delicious.
