One that hasn't been mentioned yet (with a larger distribution), I thought Green Flash's Dia De Los Serranos was good.

Until recently, I'd say XO Coveza. But I now think Mexican Cake is better.

I dont believe there are any spices in Event Horizon, fantastic BA stout tho. Maybe you are thinking of Calico Jack from Olde Hickory, Imperial Stout brewed with spices aged in Caribbean Rum barrels?

Those are not brewing adjuncts (i.e., used as additional fermentable material to supplement barley malt), they are flavoring additions.

Love Abraxas, Huna, Xocoveza (for the holidays version). Mexican Cake was overspiced for me. Too much cinnamon.

Supreme Leader/ Great Commander are underrated. I liked those because the spices aren't as robust. After half a glass of Cake, the spices become clobbering. After two glasses of Abraxas, the spices become overwhelming. But I could down a whole Supreme Leader/ Great Commander bottle without getting overcome by the spicing. Haven't had Huna in high enough quantities to know where the limit is there. Xocoveza i could session all day without problems. Xmas Morning i guess counts cause ginger is a spice and that was wonderful too. Had a Bruery Freckle and it wasn't particularly memorable to me, but definitely solid.

Does regular Dark Lord count? That would be my favorite. Otherwise, Pirate Bomb, a close second to Dark Lord, would be my fav.

Just had this on Saturday and so far it's the best of this style that I've tried, I was extremely impressed.

Oh so that's the proper word for them. In my country we just call it "sub-ingredient" so was not sure of that. Thanks!

Drinking Omnipollo's Symzonia right now. Wish there was more vanilla, but very balanced chocolate, coffee and cinnamon flavor, amazingly drinkable compared to it's high ABV. This is good. Should buy one more to take home.

    I love this style also.

Just a dumb question and not at all trying to undermine the thread. Great suggestions so far! These beers are usually seasonal, special release, and regional/local (and are/can be a total pain in the butt to get, even for us here in the U.S.). What's your beer haul expectations while you are visiting? It would stink to waste your time chasing "ghosts" and we all want you to head home with a kick butt haul!

I mostly traded for those beers, they are so hard to get! Got Abraxas, Mexican Cake, Cassian Sunset, Muerte, Mole Framinghammer to take home and compare!

I'm just a fellow nerd trying to be a pragmatic realist. :flushed:
