    Tough list to make but I'll narrow it down to;
    Chimay
    Westmalle
    Maredsous
    Golden Monkey
    Delerium Tremens
    St. Bernardus
    Merry Monks

If I had a favorite style, it would be Tripels. My favorite is Chimay White, but the best one I've ever had is La Fin du Monde.

Echoing what others have alluded to, pretty much any import from Belgium is going to have a pretty hefty markup here in the States. Even crap beer like Stella Artois.

Karmeliet is probably my favourite. Though I quite like Westmalle, too.

Sorry to hear that. Abt is my everyday drinking beer.

My wife said to me today, looking at the receipt as we left the off licence: "27 euros for 12 beers - that's expensive."

    "No, that's for 16."

    She still thinks it's expensive.

Curieux for me when I can get it. Otherwise, Westmalle is tough to beat.

This. Totally this! However if the Val Dieu is from a Salmanazar it immediately jumps to number 3:wink:!

The Tide and Its Takers. One of the best out there. Anchorage is putting out some amazing, solid stuff right now.

Would say for a true Belgian- probably Westmalle. In the American style category, I'm always blown away by Gash Curieux. For the inexpensive, local option, it's tough to beat Golden Monkey.

Haven't tried a ton yet, but those three all blew me away.

Love me some Tripels ... shocked and saddened that the top rated one on this site is #97, behind something called "Raspberry Tart". But I digress... Top 5 of my personal fave style:
    1) La Fin
    2) Tripel Van de Garre (outside of Belgium, only avail at Teresa's Next Door in Wayne PA , I believe)
    3) Westmalle
    4) Maredsous 10
    5) Curieux
p.s. this is also a great gateway style for those that claim to be wine-only folk

Couldn't even if I tried. Tap only and they are no longer filling growlers of it.

La Fin du Monde and Tripel Karmeliet are my two favorites. I would never buy a 750ml of Tripel Karm though. Those green bottles are always so funky. Luckily they use brown glass for the four packs.

Also, Three Floyds had a Tripel/IPA hybrid a couple years ago called Al Dabeyoun that was incredible.
