You and I are the only 2 to mention what I believe to one of the best if not the best one out there.

All their beers are great. Nothing flashy, just very well crafted.

Tripels are my top style. I have reviewed around 65 different ones. That being said my favorites seem to be the same stuff as mentioned in this thread. No hard to find tripel has ever topped the widely regarded ones. But quite a few were definitely awesome.

    La Fin du monde
    De ranke guldenberg
    St bernardus tripel
    Westmalle
    Karmeliet

    Westmalle Tripel
    Pretty Things Fluffy White Rabbits
    Allagash Curieux
    Trappist Achel 8°
    Chimay White

I have more to try, however. Hopefully I'll discover another great and this list will change.

Not a big fan of the style, a lot of breweries just seem to half-ass, bland and unbalanced brews just to have a triple in Belgium. The below beers are an exception.

    Struise T.H.R.E.E
    Dule Teve
De Dochter van de Koreanaar Finesse barrel Aged
    Pleine Lune Super Nova Triple
    Den Ijzeren

Unibroue La Fin du Monde is a great beer but tastes nothing like a triple to me nor like a Belgian in any way.

I never heard of most of these and being a big fan of tripels I looked them up:
Struise T.H.R.E.E - only 4 people on BA have had it, one review.
Pleine Lune Super Nova Triple- 2 people on BA have had it.
Den Ijzeren- Not even listed on BA, gets a 67 on RB.

    Must be pretty rare brews.

Going with the crowd on this one. Westmalle, Bernardus, Fin du Monde, etc...

Side note: I think Long Strange Tripel from Blvd is prob one of the most underrated tripels on the market. It sometimes misses out on these discussions. Definitely give it a try, it'll blow you away.

T.H.R.E.E showed up draft in quite a few festivals in Europe and a couple of bars, now they have released bottles of it. A good number of specialized stores in Belgium have it now. I assume that some will be send to USA now & it should be possible to trade for a bottle. Lack of reviews probably has a lot to do with the almost exclusive American user base or BA.

Den Ijzeren Arm is quite specific, four grains with fenugreek & mustard so it bound to be an acquired taste hence the score. It is mainly sold in Bruges & some stores with a big selection of Belgian brews carry it. So it is very much a local beer but a lot of bars in Bruges do have it.

Pleine Lune Super Nova Triple this one is indeed rarer.

    1. Het Anker -Gouden Carolus Tripel -97
    2. St. Bernardus - Tripel -96
    3. Westmalle - Tripel -95
    4. St. Benedictus - Achel 8* blond -93
    5. Unibroue - La fin du Monde -93
    6. Chimay - Cinq Cents(white) -92
    7. St. Bernardus - Watou Tripel -91

These are the tripel's I drink regularly. There will be an 8th to the list and I'm sure it'll be in the top 3 with the St. Benedictus-Achel Extra Blond. But when it comes to tripel's I don't drift out of Belgium breweries except for the Unibroue. For me these 8 are the best of the best in the style

I am usually a bigger fan of the ones from Belgium at times, but some North American ones have really surprised me.

Achel Extra Blonde and Damnation Batch 23 have been on my radar for so long it's not even fair :slight_frown:

I have this same issue with Karmeliet. The 330 ml bottles are much more consistent than the 750 ml bottles, and I can easily get the 750 ml, whereas the four-packs are tough to find...lame.

Anyway, to answer the OP's question: I like Deceit (Funkwerks), Fin du Monde, Karmeliet, St. Bernardus, and a recent surprise that I enjoyed quite a bit was Jambe de Bois.

I get the feeling that as a whole, Boulevard is a bit underrated as a brewery. Long Strange Tripel, Tank 7, 80 acre...these guys know what they're doing. Each of those brews is somewhat unique AND relatively inexpensive. I love brewers like this!
