I am just curious of which beers per styles where your guys firsts, i like reminiscing of what it was like for myself drinking these unique beers at the time after slowly making that initial interest into craft beer. Mine are....

    Pale Ale- Porkslap
    IPA- Dogfish Head 60 minute
    DIPA- Sixpoint Resin
    Saison- Stone Saison
    Porter- Founders Porter
Pils- Great Lakes The Wright Pils

    Lager - Hamms
    English Pale Ale - Bass
    Pilsner - Pilsner Urquell
    American IPA - Two Hearted
    Porter - Guinness
    Amber - Bells Amber
    Sour - Lolita
    Trappist - Chimay

My first beer was when I was a kid, my mother gave me a several ounce pour of Hamms. Took a couple of sips and gave it back to her. I used to love those Hamms Beers commercials on TV with the Hamms Bear.

Hmm, can't think of all of them because I started my drinking days with samples, but I'll do my best.

    Ale: Coopersmith's Watermelon Ale
    Sour: La Folie
    Stout: Abbey or Breakfast Stout
    Lager: 1554
    IPA: Ranger

I toured Coopersmith's and New Belgium the second day I drank (the first was a Bud Light). I can't recall exactly what they had on that tour, but I think I got 'em posted.

Truth be told, I can't remember what my first of any particular style was - been a while.
I can remember the ones that turned me on, though. I though IPAs were OK, for instance, until I had Stone's Ruination. Turned into a total hophead for a long time. Wasn't really into Belgian styles until Duvel and St Bernardus Tripel.
Sours I wasn't into until Abbay de Bon Chien at a fest (EBF, if I remember right..)

Oh man I wish I could remember these things.

All I remember was my first Wit being Hoegaarden and my first Scotch Ale being Dirty Bastard. I remember enjoying the wit and nearly vomiting up the scotch ale.

However had I not tried those, I wouldn't be doing this today. So it worked out.

Can't believe people remember their first beer in particular styles from over 20 years ago. For me, they were mostly from random little brewpubs in the early '90s that are probably out of business now, or something Sam Adams spat out during that period. Brain doesn't work well enough to remember the details.
I can remember my first smoked beer (Alaskan) at GABF in 1995, first faro (Lindemans), and a few other really oddball beers, but not the original classics (Pilsner Urquell in 1990?). Guiness Foreign Extra Stout is probably a good guess in the stout category (maybe 1987?).

Rolling Rock is and always was an "extra pale" American adjunct lager.
Sounds high for Piels  but NJ did have higher beer prices at the time (State minimum pricing probably still in effect). In its traditional home market in NY, Piels was going for $4.99/cs. Probably cheaper once Schaefer was brewing it in PA, bottled in 16 oz. returnable bottles.
In the US, "premium" is used to classify a beer by it's price segment. Budweiser is a "premium (priced)" beer, while Michelob was the predominant "Super-Premium" in the US at the time.
