Firsts? Yeah, sure -- about the first I can really remember is taking a sip of my dad's Drewery's (maybe it was Falstaff?) at around age 8 and hating it. Beyond that, the only way I could possibly pinpoint any firsts is looking at the Merchant DuVin portfolio from the late 80s and early 90s. Too much water under the bridge since I started enjoying better beers.

BTW -- all of you pigeonholing American Adjunct Lager under the wide umbrella of "Lager" ought to be ashamed. Too wide a category to insult with PBR or Bud.

Bravo. Nice list. I was looking to see if anyone mentioned Reingold! Most of the kids on this list started at the top. They missed the climb.

Budweiser was my first beer ever. Thanks to that, I thought I didn't like beer until i eventually tried good stuff later in life. As far as styles, I have no idea what my first in each style was.

Schlitz, Pearl, Pearl Light, Lone Star or Texas Pride are the most likely first beer ever for me. There's no way I can recall for sure ... I was probably six. Catholic Bohemian/Cajuns in Texas start early.

    Based on BA review dates:
    pilsener: Bitburger
    American pale: SNPA
    American IPA: Karbach Hopadillo
    American DIPA: Stone Enjoy By
    saison: Karbach Barn Burner
    porter (American): Karbach Hellfighter
sour: Jester King's Le Petit Prince

Guiness is definitely my first stout. Samuel Smith Old Brewery Pale Ale is my first English pale ale.

My first Guinness is definitely one if the ones I'll always remember. It was actually a buy-back at the biker/burnout bar that my friends and I hung out at (and I may have even been 17 at the time). We were pretty big on drinking their draught Heineken Dark, and apparently the Irish owner/bartender noticed. One day he just up and poured us Guinness Extra Stouts, saying something along the lines of "now it's time for you boys to try a real dark beer". After a sip it was "wow- this guy's right!" Who knew where that encounter would eventually lead after all these years .
