    Guinness.... which is predictable.

What is less predicable is that the second was Old Rasputin...

I honestly cannot remember the first time I had a stout, it would have been sometime in the late 1990's. But I'd be very surprised if it wasn't a bottle of Guinness Extra.

Young's Double Chocolate, funny enough. Still drink the living shit out of that beer. I like almost all of the lower ABV, frequently nitro'd stouts.

Not only was that my first stout, it was the first "good beer" I ever consumed.

    Seriously. My first stout. O.O
It's so cute that I came here and to beers relatively recently so now I have what amounts to a baby book for my beer drinking. (plus the ridiculous spreadsheets, pictures and reviews that I store elsewhere for my own records)

Lost coast 8 ball stout, my dad only buys local so before i was old enough to buy thats what I had available. I still enoy it from time to time as well as other lost coast brews although i moved south and its no longer local to me.

Guinness was my first stout and my gateway beer. I remember tasting chocolate and I liked it, got me interested in trying different types of beers. That being said I have no interest in Guinness today and wouldn't waste my money on it anymore.

I'm fairly certain it was Guinness at a pub somewhere local.

Oh Yes! Same with me. I remember pouring it for the first time. Wondering why this beer was black and tasted like chocolate and coffee. Same with Rogue chocolate stout. Tasted like yoo hoo. Both were drain pours. It was just too hard to get used to such a different taste. Now Stouts are so normal to me I don't give them a second thought.

I'm gonna second Guinness, I still think Guinness from draft is a viable option in a nice establishment when there aren't many other options. (Most Irish Pubs I know of here don't really carry any "craft beer" - much less local stuff)

I've had a few more since then although there's still a bunch to try. I did like Old Rasputin.
