Cantillon Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio. Maybe I was not a "casual craft beer drinker". Softer stuff like Lindemanns,Timmermans or Mort Subite before didnt win me over. But this one did...

Beer shop had it on clearance to get rid of it.

Same recipe, but blending is different. Pretty similar though, but Five is superior (Pentagram is still awesome though).

Monk's Cafe for me, too ... it and Real Ale's anniversary gose are my gateways.

Some of these beers listed in here are exactly NOT gateway ... though a bunch of them are mighty tasty.

Verhaeghe Echte Kriek--but truthfully it was the full night of sour beers that I had at Eulogy in Philadelphia on a business trip. The bar and bartender got me more hooked on sours than any one beer.

The Rare Barrel Sirius Black. The only thing I have found similar IMO is Prairie Gold.

At $4.99 a bottle, this is would be a very good introductory sour. New Holland has a few of these.

I remember trying some of the Monk's Cafe, probably 10 years ago--but it was strictly a recreational thing. Just something we drank while watching Monty Python movies. But then we moved to an area near Jester King--I'm not making excuses, but the sours became so easy to access then. I think I started with Ol' Oi, then moved onto the harder stuff like Boxer's Revenge and trading for Concecration (both around 10% ABV). I have had some Avery Rumpkin (18% ABV), but it is seasonal and extremely limited, so I'm not sure where to go from here. Where do we go from here??

Mine was Cantillon Gueuze before Cantillon became so hard to find, started a relationship with sours that my wallet hates!

The first sour beer that I ever had was Cantillon classic Gueuze. I wanted to try sours and luckily for me a bar in Providence tapped it and I convinced my lady to go there for a late lunch. I asked for a sample of it first and once I had that, I ordered a full glass and it's been pain for my wallet ever since.
