I'm a big fan of Guinness Foreign Extra. It's $6 cheaper than ten fiddy and more drinkable for me.

For me, a "go to" should be reasonably priced & easy to find (as lic217 mentioned above). And after drinking it, I should always think..."ahh, I'm glad I bought this again."

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout is the winner for me for an imperial stout. $8 a 4/pack for a such a high-quality brew really is incredible. And if you've never had it aged, a year is perfect.

For a non-impi stout, Sierra Nevada stout is another winner. Another great stout for the price (though I wish it was a more widely distributed).

Old Rasputin, $6.99 for a 4 pack, available year round, and taste great. But for now, I am working on Narwhal that I stocked up on while it was available.
If I can't Old Rasputin, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is my second go to stout.

Same opinion here, picked up a case of Narwhal two weeks ago, gonna slowly enjoy it until it's available later this year.

Definitely Great Divide's yeti series (espresso, chocolate, belgian). Alesmith's Speedway Stout is great, and so is Santa Fe's Java Stout. I will agree with all that mentioned Ten Fidy..

I love all of these and wish more than 1 out of the 3 were readily available to me. :slight_frown:

Ten Fidy's a go-to for me, as are Squatters Outer Darkness and the flavored Yetis. Had a Oak Chocolate Yeti tonight and it was fabulous.

I used to like Old Rasputin but find it too thin and watery now. I might consider it a "session stout" if I didn't routinely session big-ass 10% stouts already.*

*My sessions last <60 minutes. Then I go night-night.

Just good old FBS?--fairly avail much of the year in the distro and just fantastic. Ready the day it hits the floor but good a while out.

Was once a top beer--now at 23--the most reviewed/rated beer on BA and scores a 100 by reviewers and bros.

Hard to get more goto than that.

    And the baby--iconic.

No Breakfast Stout until October, no Imperial until January my friend. However I can still find both in CT and amazingly FBS is more abundant. Enjoy it when you get it, you are only a virgin once!
