And this is why the term "session beer/ale" just doesn't make the same sense in the US. We just don't spend that kind of time in bars. It actually applies more to the adjunct lager drinker than craft drinkers/beers imo.

It's all about situation-appropriate drinking for me. I like different ABVs for different situations. They all have their place. I rarely have my own "session" at home. If I have people over to watch a game for hours, I stick to 4%-5.9% ABV. If it's just me for an evening, I'll reach for anything...depends on my mood.

As a side, if I'm having a brew by myself at home at night, I like the area around 7%. You get warming sensation, usually robust flavors, but aren't hit with a giant booze kick.

For the most part I fall in the 7.5-10% range. I would rather slowly enjoy two - three in this range than 5+ of something of a lower abv. I prefer to drink slowly as well and taste the beer change over time (sometimes it improves others it doesn't)

Occasionally I am happy with a lower abv just to have a nice session, but in general I prefer to drink fewer and take longer with each

During the week, for my liver's sake, I try to limit myself to two standard beers (5% ABV) so it is a constant struggle to decide whether I want one complex and great tasting beer (e.g. Heady or Brooklyn Black Choc Stout) or two ok tasting beers with lesser ABV.

IMO; some of the best beer styles (Imperial IPA's, Beligian Strong Pale Ales/Dark Ales, etc.) are between 7.5-10% so my vote is for that.

6% - 7% is perfect. I can have a few and get where I wanna go

I would prefer nothing under 5%. The average ABV should always be 5%. Even the best session beers are at least 5%.

I am a LARGE guy 6'4 pushing 400, so if i were to sit and drink Miller lite and can down a 12pk and still want more. I enjoy going to the local World of Beers and not worring about the ABV. I do love DIPA, Tripple, Quads and most anything lol. I can usually down 5-7 beers in a few hours hangin there. Now the nightt hey had the DFH 120 I had 4 10oz snifters and had to call my wife to come get me. So long story short I like the 7.5%

at this time of year, under 5 is perfect. when it's cold out, i'll need at least 7 or 8 to warm me up a bit, if not more.

Yes, these ranges are a little off. That said, I prefer beers in the 3.5% - 5% range, but usually have to go over to the 5% - 5.5% range.

I voted 7.5-10. However, I tend not to really care. My ultimate goal is not to drink to get drunk, rather drink to enjoy. Some nights I'm happy having 1 small saison, others I want an eisbock

4 -7.5 is way too wide. 5-6.5 would be better

I love a good session beer. I chose 4-7.5% but I like 5% and under.

I won't use the word "session" since it drives the UK people bonkers, but 4.5%-5.5% is usually pretty ideal for me. That way I'm not limited to only 1 or 2, I'm not dealing with rocket fuel, and I'm not stuck with only UK yeasts, too. There are some exceptions depending on the beer and who makes it, but I find that range to be up my alley.

It's exceedingly rare that I drink to get drunk or even buzzed. If I'm having a dessert beer or just having one with supper, anywhere is fine. If I'm actually looking to get a little tipsy, ideally it'll be something 6% or higher or I'm going to end up full before I even feel anything.
