I love a nice 2% session beer if I'm driving. If I'm staying in for the night then sure, take it up to 8 or 12%.

I actually fully agree with this post. The ABV really doesn't matter at all to me, I mostly care about the taste of the beer. I drink Founders "All Day IPA" because I like how it tastes, and I drink Dark Horse Plead the 5th because it's an awesome tasting Stout. I didn't even know that PT5th was 12% until I had been drinking it for quite a while.

I look for anything under 5% if I can find it. I would prefer 3 - 4%, but that's not realistic most of the time in the US.

I like the 8-9% range. You can get some good beers in that range and if you want you only need 3 or 4 to get a good buzz and then there's some left for the next day

The way this poll is dialed in makes it read like we all drink beer to get F'd up.

I'm sorry, there are cheaper, faster ways to do that.

I like pales in the 6-7% range. I like DIPA/IIPA's in the 9-11% range. I like stouts in the 10-15% range. But all simply a matter of this being where the tastes line up for me.

    I don't drink to inebriation.

I tend to like beers more towards the upper single digits. I think well crafted beers that can blend in a high ABV are remarkable.

Are there any higher alcohol beers still in the 6-pack format? :astonished:

Come to think of it, Bigfoot and Hopslam must be some of the higest. I can't think of any over 10%

Bigfoot is going to 4-packs and I am sure Hopslam will follow ... especially if Larry sells. :grimacing:

When that beer is 13% ABV, you've been working a physically demanding job all day, haven't eaten in hours, and you're not even 140lbs soaking wet, yes.

And no, that's not a hypothetical situation. Welcome to my life.

I voted 4-7.5 but ideally, for me, the range would be 4-6% ABV.

7.5% - 10% is a great range for me, but none of your selections define it very well for me 'cause the 7% range, yeah, could possibly finish six if I put my mind to it. Pushing 10% and they start coming in four packs, possibly a four pack if I work it, anything more than that, I'm ready to fall over and if I can do 6 at 10% and still be standing, I need to check into rehab...do not Pass or Go and do not collect $200. Option 4, that just defies the enjoyment of good beer if that's the intention. I can't cast a vote based on the criteria and associating "session beer" with those kind of ABV's is enough to piss of the BA Semantic Police.

That is good and bad, you get drunk faster but it is easier on the wallet.

Lagunitas? Imperial Red and Sumthin' Wild are fairly strong, as was Sucks this past winter.

The Golden Monkey is shy of 10% but close enough.

Ive seen plenty of beers in the 2-3 range. Not usually american beers. But some belgians, and other foreign styles. Also I did it so your not stuck picking a style of beer you prefer. So I made them more generalized, and said elaborate for a reason.

Stoudt's Double IPA, only one I can come up with.

I really have no preference when it comes to ABV something I look at, but doesn't affect what I drink whatsoever.

6-8% is my sweet spot. I love all the other options as well, but it's not where I spend most of my drinking time.
