A Cantillion anything was my white whale until a few weeks ago when a friend shared a '12 Gueuze. Any offering from de Garde is now on my white whale list.

Mine are not whales by most guys standards. Just the common ones like Pliny, Heady, etc.

I don't trade and don't really want to start. So it's more of a personal thing and I'm okay with tha.

    FW Double DBA.....

Had one around 6 months ago and have been looking for another one ever since. Think this beer falls somewhere in between the Holy Grail and several of my left socks on a scale of ridiculously hard to find.

Sitting on some local Casey whales (and other killer beer luv) if anyone can help me cross this off my wants!

Was Heady for years - then I decided to do a well planned VT run and scored 2 cases. Was everything I heard it would be. Next up is Pliny.

Younger. I know I'll never have it (although thinking that way ups my chances).

I honestly have tried everything I've ever strongly wanted to try to date. From this point forward I don't really feel the need to go after the newest release of the moment. I mainly stick with local IPAs, some shelf gueuze or barrel stouts here or there, some lagers too. If rare stuff crosses my path that's great. But I don't go out of my way anymore and certainly don't have a white whale.

It was a top want of mine for a while, but it's the the only bc variant I didn't enjoy. Tastes like straight cherry cough syrup. Bramble was the other that took me a while to land, and though it was great, it wasn't worth the price of admission when Backyard is so much easier to land. But if you're anything like me, this info will not deter you on your quest to drink them all. Good luck.

My whale was the one pictured in my avatar...I finally was able to score 7 bottles of it (including, believe it or not, one at a garage sale for $2). The two bottles that I actually drank did not disappoint at all, in fact, given their age they were nothing short of remarkable considering the brew date was 6 years before I was born and the bottling date was when I was 8 years old.
I think the only other beers that I would consider my whale(s) would be things like Ratcliff Ale or Allsop's Arctic Ale (both of which I seriously doubt I'll ever see), and Bass King's Ale and Prince's Ale (which I understand are both still obtainable, albeit with some difficulty).

But I honestly can't think of anything currently being made that I would go very much out of my way for. Some of the current 'rarez' I've had the opportunity to taste in my work travels (including some highly touted ones) have been pretty short of any real distinctive character (but certainly not short on hype).

Heady Topper, Pliny the Elder. Kind of cliche, but they're hard to come by here in MI.
