I am not sure if I have found my perfect beer. I love hop drop, that's my favorite IPA and my go to, I recently had double trouble for the first time and I thought it was very good. I also really like stone Imperial Russian stout and founders Imperial stout. I have not rated any beer a 5 since IMO everything has room for improvement.

LOVE Alaskan Smoked, probably one of my favorite American-made smoked beers (along with the oft overlooked Stone Smoked Porter).

But please, tell me what's that glorious baked good you're eating alongside it?

This is tough. I haven't had many of the legendary beers - darn few out of the top 250, actually. I have to fall back on the beers that gave me the instant wow factor, I guess is my way of looking at it.

Stone Ruination - still THE game changer for my relationship with IPA's. True revelation.
Allagash Curieux - to me a remarkable beer that hits all the right notes - balanced flavor, well-crafted, it is just on point.
Founder's Backwoods Bastard - to me this is the beer to sit and just sip. Not an every day drinker, but for a quiet evening.
DFH Palo Santo Marron - there is just something about this beer that I absolutely love. Don't quite know what it is, but it melts my butter.
St. Bernardus Christmas Ale - this is obviously tied to the event of Christmas dinner and family gatherings. I believe the circumstances and context of the situation are an important contributor to any beer experience. It's tasty, not overdone with the spice levels, ages well, everybody seems to like it, and it's reasonably affordable. I cheat on the affordability - I stock up for next Christmas after New Year's when it goes on sale after learning it can sit for ten months and apparently suffer no harm.

Every day beer would have to be fresh Hoponious Union or Smoke and Dagger from Jack's Abby. Those are almost always in the house. (I have yet to track down the apparently elusive FRESH Mass Rising). Lately, their Berliner Braun and the BA cherry variant have been staples.

Many honorable mentions from Mystic Brewery (Auerbach's Rauchbier, Day of Doom), MBC (Mean Old Tom), Allagash, Boulevard, Ommegang, and on and on it goes. So many good beers to enjoy...

Hill Farmstead Edward changed the way I thought about hops. Ill never forget that first taste of Edward I had sitting in the Prohibition Pig late at night upon finally arriving to Waterbury for the first time. After having so many beers since then Edward may not be my favorite, but in my eyes it is perfect.
