No one let RonaldtheRiot see this thread; there will be thousands of perfect beers (or excellent beers! Or great beers! Or one of my (his) favorite beers!)

I like that you didn't ask for just what we gave a 5 to; this way is more fun.

    For me:

BCBS Coconut Rye (just picked up another bottle at the GI brewpub, looking forward to seeing how it has held up in my memory)

Permanent Funeral (FFF can be overhyped, but not here. So juicy, so awesome!)

Navaja (Half Acre made one batch a couple years ago that was possibly my all-time favorite DIPA. They've changed the receipe since then :slight_frown:)

Darkness (I was pretty excited when I picked up my first bottle, and honestly, it tasted almost exactly how I hoped it would taste.)

Seredipity (My all-time favorite fruit beer. A joy to drink)

Candy Cane Cthulhu (the subtle mint taste on the finish is something I've been looking for in other beers, but haven't found)

And just for fun, since this really got me thinking:

    Close calls

    Abrasive
Thumbprint IIPA (Scream is really good too, although I feel like I preferred IIPA when I had it)
    Pineapple Brettanomite
    Nutulhu
BCBBW (my second favorite BCBS variant, to date)
    Raisin in the Sun
    Beer Hates Astronauts
    Raspberry Tart

I throw 4.75's and 5's all the time, but top beers that I genuinely think about and yearn for...

    Pliny
Hoppy Birthday, wish i could drink this every week.
    Reality Czeck
    Cantillon Vigneronne
    Convivial Suarez
Pretty much all Raspberry sours (FfaC, Hommage, Raspberry Origins, Ensorcelled, never had Atrial or Coolship Red but i think about them as well)

There are a ton of beers that I am so happy I got to try once ie Younger, Beat, Scream, Blackberry Dark Origins, etc. etc. I love beers.

If I ever see it again, Tap X Mein Nelson Sauvin. grassy, cloves, nutty, white wine flavours and other not over citrus flavour. bubbly, bold yet delicate so this can replace wine with your food pairings. mmmmm

Is it possible that it was one year and two weeks old? I'm not trying to be funny, here in Germany the only date on the bottle is a Best Before date. I recently had a wheat beer with 18.06.15 on the bottle, for example.

I'm quite surprised that I have not seen one PvW Black Magick or KBBS mentioned in here. Based on their reviews, they sound like god's gift to beer.

A reasonable question for sure. I can't remember how I figured out when this thing was bottled, I thought I read somewhere that the date on the bottle was the bottled on date, perhaps I am wrong. If it was a best-before date, I may have asked around to find out how far out they put the dates and then calculated the bottled-on date accordingly. Either way, I was pretty confident in my understanding that it was a very young beer. Perhaps I had it all wrong, but I'm confident I did not (of course now, I'm wondering if it was the bottle of Weinstephaner I bought that day or the bottle of Andechser Vollbier Hell that was so fresh....).

For beers that need no improvement, aka could not have been made better I would go with:

    HF Abner
    HF Birth of Tragedy
    Atrial Rubicite
    Tank 7

Had 2013 Abyss on tap this winter that was just plain transcendent. Had a bottle a month later, and it was really good...but something supernatural happened with the one on tap. Like ambrosia from Mt. Olympus.

Proprietors on tap was also perfect. Every piece of the puzzle in perfect harmony. Just incredible.

I also maintain Russian River's Redemption is the perfect summer sipper. As much as I love a good hoppy blast to slake my thirst in the summer, Redemption is just so wonderfully subtle, delicate, and satisfying. No one flavor clamoring for place over another. One of the few brews where my tendency to be analyzing a beer as I drink it sort of melts away, and I just relax with it. Great stuff.

I don't know if I have found the perfect beer yet. There are some that are very close but right now I would have to say Second Fiddle

Man everyone has an opinion, and they vary. For me, if it is cold and in my hand on a hot day, and NOT an IPA, I'm game. After golf perfection for me is something like a Fat Tire or Hi-Wire's Lager, very cold, very easy drinking, very refreshing, mmmm.

    Sam Adams Boston Lager ('Murica)

I don't know exactly what it's called, but it's a Swiss Roll type cake that they sell in Asian markets. My neighbor will bring us one when we take in her mail when she's abroad, or something like that. They are very simple but very good, and the cake part is extremely fluffy and moist. You apparently have a good eye for desserts.

Hopslam. First time I had it was one of those perfect beer drinking moments where everything was perfect. (Love those times when the palate is picking up everything, the setting is perfect, and the world stands still.)... Could have sworn I saw a unicorn in my backyard that moment
