I had this a few months ago. I didn't like it.. Liquid smoke and Slim Jim's. No thank you.

But, hey, I'm glad you're excited!

I found a bottle of Enjoy By back in April when I was told it was gone for $5.99 at my Harris Teeter.

    Freeking sweet find.

Perhaps "shelf veterans" might be a more "cleansed" terminology. One thing to always consider is shelf position. I've seen beers fly from one good placement and be moved to another seemingly good spot and it sits and and moulders. Good retailers know how to position beers that people will find- but some locations are the kiss of death (like 750 bottles in the well bottom of a large cooler.) Some Rogue flavors linger, and with the advent of US craft over the last 5 years, trusty Belgians, Biere De Gardes, and Saisons move much more slowly. I also wish that Meantime moved along a bit more quickly. Any great retailer moves stuff along.

Lunch makes it to stores? Been searching for a while. I see a ton of maine beer co stuff, but never lunch. Not sure if this could ever get to turd status. I always thought turd meant it had been on the shelf for a long time

    I also found a few LC3 yesterday.
Perfect timing, as I just drank one of my last ones on Saturday.
    It's tasting fantastic right now.

Not too long ago I was just out with friends and not expecting to purchase any beer when I saw some Baciami Lipsia (the Italian wine barrel-aged Gose with brett) on the shelf, and just had to pick it up. Pretty good decision, too, but I should have gotten more .

Gone, all gone. I checked after Christmas and the store's craft business has skyrocketed. Nothing hangs around like it did a couple years ago.

Korbinian. Given the placement of the shelf within the store, the beer on the shelf and the layer of dust, I'd estimate at least 2012 vintage. Whatever it was, 'twas tasty.

Shelf turd is one of my least favorite phrases to emerge from this current wave of beer fanatics. I realize it is often used ironically and in jest and that is likely the spirit from which it emerged. Nevertheless it promotes a sensibility that there are brewery only releases, and then there are turds. And, the notion that by definition the former are more desirable and simply better than the latter. Sometimes that's true and sometimes it's not.

It's also a juvenile snarky expression and if I ever hear someone use it in a sentence, without joking or being ironic, I will smack them. Grow the hell up already.

Let's see what I've encountered as "shelf turds" in the past few years - king Henry, Lou pepe kriek, cantillon classic gueuze, rose de gambrinus, temptation, sanctification, BCBCS and BCBW, bo and Luke, bc cherry rye, baby maker, Pliny the elder, Lawson's double sunshine, heady topper, etc etc. turds every last one of them.

Don't know about the 2009/10 vintages, but I had a 2007 a few months back, and it was fantastic. Quite different, but fantastic.

If you see a turd, do you pick it up and take it home with you, or do you let it sit there and pretend it's not there.

The idea is the beer is sitting there just waiting for someone to pick it up, but for whatever reason, it just doesn't move.

Avery uncle Jacobs. Months after the release I went to a local bottle shop and there it sat.
