Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout sits on the shelf at my local beer stop. I don't complain. Harviestoun Old Engine Oil and Engineers Reserve OEO sits as well. I guess stouts just aren't getting the attention that other styles are getting. Heck, during Founders Breakfast Stout season, I was a very happy guy

Nice. I was there last Thursday and they still had some on the shelf. I assume we are just talking about regular BCBS.

Found an 08 Stone RIS - I only hesitated momentarily before buying it
Then drank it that nite (no reason to age further )
Honestly a bit old, seems like 3-4 years is the sweet spot. Still quite nice though.

He didn't indicate that he thought people were trying to be unclear by using the term, only that he thought it was an unclear term.

There seems to be a whole lot of overreacting to people merely saying that they dislike something, but that's not unusual on threads such as this. There are a jillion mediocre beers that would have a jillion BA's up in arms about me hating on them if I merely said I thought they were mediocre. Maybe some people are so anxious to whiteknight that they like to set up straw men that they can tilt their lances? Whatever, but I haven't seen anybody here expressing "outrage" or tearing their hair out over the term. Again, any overreaction seems to be on the part of the people defending the term from the overreaction they imagine.

    Funny!

I haven't seen it mentioned but for me it's easily TenFidy. I mean, easily one of my top stouts sans adjunct and it's in a can.

Went there last night and they were out of BCBS. Said it sold out about 2 weeks ago, but they were surprised to still have some this long (into May). Was not a worthless visit though. I did find some Wormtown Be Hoppy cans though.

Earlier this year I found two Firestone 17's chillin' on the shelf. Such a phenomonal brew!

A local liquor store still has several bottles of XVII, they are now $21.99 which I think is actually cheaper than buying direct from barrelworks.

My recent shelf turd was a Stone epic series 12.12.12 last week, it was terrible :slight_frown:

I picked up a bottle of Fou Foune off a local shelf on Saturday, she was just sitting there all by her lonesome. I'm not kidding

Five years is righteous with this one - sometimes you don't know what you have

Smuttynose Zinneke just doesn't sell at my store, even despite the current BA craze.
Not sure why, I think it's very solid for the style, the price is very reasonable, and it's a respected and well-known brewery. I think I've just been slowly working through the case myself over the past two years, not that I'm complaining

While I completely agree with your definition of Shelf Turd, then the OP's comment about fresh MBC Lunch being his recent "shelf turd" makes no sense, since a fresh beer doesn't sit on the shelf for long. If it did, it wouldn't be fresh.

Anyhow, got a 4 pack of 2013 GI BCBBW for 17.99 a few weeks ago in a store in RI.

Oh yea?! Where did you find BCBBW? Especially at 17.99. Hopefully somewhere fairly close to where I am. I'll take a city/town name if you'd like to keep the store anonymous.
