For me, it has to be Avery's Maharaja. Just too sweet. Definitely a sipper. Not bad, but in the 10% and above DIPA's, there are a few I much prefer over Maharaja. What are yours, and do you prefer your DIPA's to be more balanced? More malt or hop forward? Or perhaps something else in the flavor profile?

Sweetest: Nuclear Nugget Imperial Honey DIPA from Lickinghole Creek, 10.5%

Best > 10%: Other Half All Green Everything

Definitely prefer more hop forward and less sweet and malty

Sweetest I've ever come a cross is Lefty's Wicked Sticky which has no real hop presence except some floral notes but loads and loads of syrupy sweet maltiness.

Sweet, syrupy and boozy DIPAs taste like mistakes to me.

I'll throw in another one for Hopslam. Every year I tell myself that it's just not worth the $18. And every year, I forget that until I buy another sixer.

My top 2 have been named: Maharaja and Hopslam.
120 minute and Devil Dancer might be sweeter than those two, but I don't care for either. At least not fresh.

I have not had Hopslam. Devil Dancer I've had fresh, and it was an onion forward brew. Very sweet, too. I'd love to try Trillium's brews, but I don't have access to them here in NYC.

FW Double Jack (unless super fresh)
    Sixpoint Hi-Res
    Avery Maharaja
    DFH 90 Minute

The "sweet" DIPAs I don't seem to have a problem with are the ones with honey, like GL Chillwave and LCCB Nuclear Nugget. Honey works wonders in drying out the finish of a big DIPA!

Maharaja immediately came to mind when I saw this title. Too sweet, and barely struck me as a DIPA. I much prefer them to balance the heavy malt presence with bitter citrus or pine and some tropical fruit. Hop Juju pretty much sums up what I think a big DIPA should be. But specifically talking about options 10% abv or higher, I'd say Hopslam, Hoptimum, or Hi-Res are my favorites.

Damn! I just bought some and I was hoping it would not turn out that way. Only if most IIPA's could perfect the right amount of sweetness like Pipeworks Crimson Snapper and Square Grouper.
