I got the same message a week ago and wish I would have kept the guy's email address so I could send him a link to this thread showing him what we think of his shitty site.

Yeah I deleted the email as well. I do have an email from another guy on Craigslist that really did seem interested in a trade...however when we got into negotiating he said "I have been using this really cool site called Brewdex.com" and that is when I stopped talkin to the bung hole.

I suppose that it sort of evens-out in some weird way if it's a trade between two "Brewdexers" but keep that shit out of my face.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in the beer industry. And that includes the vortex bottle, Moonshot, and $8 5oz pours of Three Philosophers.

Sadly, this may actually take off. Whatever - I give up. Beer scalpers win.

I can't stop laughing. Not sure if that site is supposed to be serious, but it sure is funny.

I've had a couple of these over the last month or so.

    • I set up what I think is a simple, mid to low $ trade for what should be an easy to get beer.
    • I get 2-3 messages in record time
    • The majority of the conversations end shortly after they ask "Well, what else to do you have?" or "Let me get back to" (meaning that they are re-casting their bait.

Yeah I have an extra bottle of something brewing only (less than a week old) and am wondering if i should do a FT or just wait till i see someone wants it. Partly because i have no clue what I want so the proverbial FT: XXX ISO: list or whatever is not really how I want to go.

    $50.00 for a BA BORIS ? , I'm stocking up :grinning: .

    - that site is complete bullshit - sadly there are fools out there who will follow those guide lines , it's a shame what it's all coming to in the world of craft beer , Glad I decided to stick to locals with an occasional trade with former trading partners.

Dollar values? So they're not abstract relative valuations? What a gyp!

My soul hurts. How do they determine the value for this crap anyway? It seems totally arbitrary.

What is a good way for a new trader to value a good or bad trade? I'm new, and something like this actually has made it easy for me to compare stuff. Is there an easier way to do this on BA besides navigating the forums? Plz DM me. I'm trying to value a couple bramble rye trades and don't feel like its appropriate to post a thread about it.

Some traders don't value the trade at all, they just say " I want your beer so I'll give you this beer for it ". I do this sometimes. When trading locals for locals I just say " Hey I paid $30 for this, send me $30 of that ". If the beer is "rare", yearly release or whatever, I trade something else of the same frequency that cost the same. For example, Bramble is $15. I traded $15 once per year Lost Abbey sours for it. Pretty simple. It's really about getting the beer you want, not having a "beer portfolio" that increases in value.

That thing's hilarious. I guess it's useful, if someone cares about the values on there you know not to trade with them.
