Last snow is hands down one of the most tasty beers around. This batch was insane! But i still think maple bacon is better...

Have you had Morning Wood? I hope to god they bring that beer back for their 3rd Anniversary party in Sept. Well worth the drive down. Even better than CBS imo (and I just had CBS and savored every sip of it).

My experience echoes a lot of what you included in your review! Last Snow may have been my favorite of the day, and it was on tap for at least an hour in the tasting room. Our group was able to go back for a second round of it -- it was incredibly smooth and well-balanced, featuring coffee in a surprisingly refreshing way. Could not drink too much of it. Also, I definitely preferred Cucumber Lager over CCB's Cucumber Saison, as I've felt that the cucumber in the saison is just a bit overpowering. Cucumber Lager was perfect for the near-80 degree weather as well.

We did get to try Tropical White Oak Jai Alai, and while the additional fruitiness and citrus notes helped to accent the wood flavor and tropical fruit qualities of the base beer, there was a little too much going on, making it not quite as elegant as the regular White Oak (one of my faves). The kumquat berliner was delicious, though I really did prefer Funky Buddha's starfruit berliner, which had just a little more sweetness to it, making it more refreshing than mouth-puckering. Wish I had tried more of J. Wakefield's berliners!

I'll also agree that the S'mores Brown Ale was a bit underwhelming, much like their Candy Cane Brown Ale I had tried back in the winter. The flavors were spot-on; they just didn't work together to create a beer that I'd drink a whole glass of. Everyone in our group was in agreement -- Oatmeal Raisin Cookie, Blueberry Muffin, and Chicory Dickory Choc are greater palate pleasers, as the flavors blend much better. I'd even venture to say that Chicory Dickory Choc has an edge over Oatmeal Raisin Cookie: it seems to have a slightly fuller body/mouthfeel and absolutely nails the dark baking spices. Fortunately, Oatmeal Raisin Cookie was on tap in the brewhouse / tasting room between 1pm and when the event closed at dusk, with hardly a wait come late afternoon. :grinning:

So I had better give my top five as well. . .
    (1) Hopped Up Johnnie (one of my favorite Zhukov treatments, pouring until very late in the day)
    (2) Last Snow Porter
    (3) Humidor Series Smoked Habanero IPA (my buddy said it was the second best beer he'd ever enjoyed)
    (4) Apple Brandy WWWW (many thanks to ethanp for a taste of this one!)
    (5) Humidor Series Double American Black

As much as I loved Leon, the apple brandy barrel does even greater wonders to WWWW, a beer that has always been too cloyingly sweet and unbalanced for me. The barrel-aged imperial sweet stouts were also delicious, and I sure hope CCB bottles the cherry cordial variant (they sure barreled a lot of it this past November: http://www.brewbokeh.com/images/place-cigarcity12.jpg).

Also, Bohr was incredible (up there with Zhukov and easier to drink, IMO), and Hornswoggled on nitro was just barely squeezed out of my top 5. It was an amazing treat. The two biggest letdowns were beers that I still enjoyed a lot: Bourbon Sea Bass tasted like bourbon and not much else -- really hard to get a sense of the base beer from it -- and Whiskey Irish Stout didn't seem that much different from Patio Tools. Still finished my pours with a big smile, though. :grinning:

All in all, an amazing day with friendly fellow Florida beer fans. My only real organizational suggestions would be to include more restroom facilities and encourage greater orderliness in the beer queues -- things that a lot of BAs on here have already pointed out (and that Three Floyds absolutely nails on Dark Lord Day). Going with a large group definitely helped us try all sorts of different beers -- I may have tried about 35 but purchased about nine on my own -- and sitting in the slightly hidden back area of the Tasting Room helped us to avoid the heat during the midday hours. Once 3pm rolled around we didn't have to wait at all to purchase our bottles, and there was no waiting for pours, which made for a beautiful late afternoon in Tampa. Sun was shining, a band was playing, the homebrewers were passing around samples, a guy brought his pet snake for folks to hold, and there was plenty of beer to share. We could have braved more lines to be able to try the Dragonfruit Passionfruit BW and some other big guns, but events like these are all about choosing the battles and getting what we want most out of the day.

Any idea of the final attendance count? I'd imagine it had to have been at least 6,000 throughout the day. Major props to CCB for doing an amazing job -- I can only hope that next year's event is as fun as this one!
