Readily available in German imports, would be Ayinger and Spaten. Domestic Craft, are Samuel Adams, Brooklyn, and a host of others readily available locally or regionally. It's a popular seasonal style to our good fortune. ^^

Anyone had Brooklyns lately? About 5-6 years ago I thought that was the most authentic US version.... Haven't had it in a while.... When I am in Munich for The Fest, I actually prefer Spaten and then Augustiner. Hofbrau has grown on me recently, while at The Fest.... Prosit!

Only readily avialable in MN but I couldn't resist bringing up most likely my favorite beer from Surly, SurlyFest. Not necessarily a traditional Octoberfest beer, but damn is it good. Weihenstephaner is always a great choice.

I was about to say Brooklyn. Haven't seen it yet this year but it is always one of the best Oktoberfests.

Surlyfest is a rye beer, but a damn good one.

Ayinger is great. Straight butterscotch, caramel.

Hacker Pschorr is a perfect, absolutely perfect, marzen representation.

If you've never had Erdinger's Oktober-weizen, GO FIND IT. Interesting style mix that works out wonderfully.

Hofbrau's Okto is good, if you enjoy a malty Helles you'll like that.

Honestly it's a hard style to go wrong with IMO.

For availability, Sam is actually quite good. If you haven't tried it, pick up a Spaten; you won't be disappointed.

It seems I'm late to the party, but fwiw I haven't even seen the Lowenbrau Original in that same amount of time. The O'fest, longer still. Those guys are keeping me from doing a 'Big Six' tasting!

Ayinger is my favorite. I also like Left Hand Oktoberfest and Three Floyds Munsterfest.

I don't know what it is but I think Dundee Octoberfest doesn't get the respect it deserves. It's a great representation of the style IMO. I can't wait to pick some up this season!

Among the readily available US O'fests, I like Sam, Brooklyn, Victory, and Great Lakes.

But since you are in CT, if you are willing to take a drive to Northern NJ, my absolute US fav is Ramstein, from High Point in Butler. Not usually available until early September, and draft only.

Its all soooo good!!! I have met none that I dislike. Paulaner is my favorite and is fairly easy to get when the season arrives.

Here in MA the BBC Ocktoberfest is fairly easy to find. It's a solid Oktoberfest, IMO, but isn't on the level as some of the good German brews.

I agree with the Ayinger. Best I've had by far.
