Stille Nacht Reserva 2000, without any doubt (Stille Nacht is still one of my very favorite beers even after having tried half of the top 100 and I really loved the 2005 version).

After that, I would really enjoy Don Quijote (I love Cantillon and also love the label and the character himslef, and isn't chasing white whales as vain as struggling against mills?) and Southampton Berliner Weisse (I have had a bet running for two years involving a Southampton Berliner Weisse and I really loved Überliner)

Anything from pre-Wells merger Young's Brewing, wrapped bottles of Aventinus and from the "old days" a Michelob from a time when it was the brightest spot on the beer list, oh yeah and Lowenbrau from the days when it was contract brewed by Miller in the states.

None, I refuse to "chase" a beer when there are plenty of readily-available excellent beers at hand!

yeah they do, NYC and Philly both get pretty regular distribution on draft. I've had 5 different HF beers in the last month on draft in NYC.

you can't fill growlers or get bottles though.

and Ballantine Burton Ale is mine. Aged 20 years in oak, oxidated as fuck mid century barleywines are my bag. Sherry.

The beer I would most like to try is Vanilla Bean Aged Dark Lord. However, I can't really call it a ``White Whale'' because I've never actually tried to acquire it. Until I actually have something(s) in my possession worth a bottle of VBADL, I'm afraid it would be a complete waste of time.

I know a lot of people want 3F stuff... I live an hour from the brewery and I'm going back next week. I can get anything on their current tap list on the website. LMK.

Mine aren't that rare, but I still doubt I'll make it happen.

New Glarus R&D Bourbon Barrel Kriek
    New Glarus R&D Gueuze
New Glarus Two Women Lager - 2010 (less so)

I've had (I think) three bottles of the Golden Ale and one of the Sour Ale and currently have:

I live in Arizona, but have family in Wisconsin and just love New Glarus. I'd take the three NG beers in my list over any Cantillon or some of the other whales mentioned in this thread.

Well, I will say my answer. I personally do not chase after anything special. Maybe I am that few percent who takes the "if it comes, it comes" road. I do not know if people will be offended by that but I am sure that is good news for those that collect. I let the great beer come when it does and for me that is most enjoyable!

Right now my "White Whale" is 2012 Bourbon Barrel Aged Dark Lord w/ Vanilla Beans. Sadly, I know I don't have the ammo by myself to land one. What makes the matter worse is that a small group of my friends had a tasting on a Thursday night that I couldn't attend because of work  that involved the BADL w/ VB as the main event :slight_frown:.
