I had like 3 trades that I got some of this stuff (not the main part of the trade) and I didn't care for it. Took a 12 pack to a tasting and gave it away.

I'll remember you when I get the next batch. My midwest traders seem to be very generous with this stuff.

Knocked out both Blabaer and Rare in an epic tasting a couple weeks ago. Both were so, sooo good. Rare was just unbelievable...I mean I knew it had to be awesome, but holy shit. Above and beyond.

Currently at the top of my list are Fou Foune and BCB Vanilla.

Of the uber-mega whales, it's Narke Stormaksporter. That tiny little bottle of greatness will be tough to slay, but I've had two "close" calls:

    1. Saw an empty bottle sitting on a shelf at a local-ish brewery. The guy who runs the brewery* must have some awesome connections...

    2. Guy in my tasting group got to try it. All he had to do was fly to Europe and go to Akkurat.

Have been fortunate enough to tick off most of my biggest wants. As it stands now, my white whale is definitely Samuel Adams Millennium

there are definitely bottles floating around that i know of so i'm not totally hopeless about it as i've learned in the past never discount what you think is impossible.

Not that much of a Whaler, but if I had to name a few:

De Struise Double Black at #1
    Kate the Great at #2

Black Sheep's (Masham, England) 10% 'Progress' Anniversary Ale (basically an English barleywine). I even have a friend in London for two weeks, and could have the brewery ship it to him, for him to bring home, but alas, he's worried about carrying it his suitcase (I had a similar Black-Sheep one-off destroyed in my luggage, even though I wrapped it in bubble-wrap so I understand). But still, UGH I want that beer.

That said, my big wants over the years (King Henry, FW Double DBA and Sucaba, Courage RIS now that it's being made again, Black Sheep RIS which I snagged in England, Westy XII, Darklord, and GI Juliet) have by kindness, diligence, or Providence made their way to my lips. So, besides the Progress mentioned above, I can honestly say that really my only 'whale' anymore is a six-pk of fresh Westy XII to drink 1 a year for the next six years.

Prob KH and BCBVS. I don't think BCBCS should go on my list since I think it'll get knocked out this winter.
