Like I said, I don't think they are very similar at all. But I still don't really blame the store for putting the sign up. I mean the simple fact that they are both pale ales (according to the brewer) could be enough to warrant the recommendation. "We don't have the pale ale you are looking for, but many other people like this pale ale" is basically what he is saying.

Hey- Enough with these V. Zombie Dust threads. ZD stands ALONE, like it or not. Strictly IMO. Bye.

I actually had my first of both of these beers and drank them back-to-back (ZD first) and thought the SideKick tasted a little similar but much lighter than the ZD but just chalked it up to ZD's action on my palate. I could seriously just sit and enjoy the smell of ZD all day though - so lovely and unique.

There is no comparison to ZD, it renders all other APA's inert........

comes in cans, easy to get fresh, low ABV, low IBU, suggestive of citra and simcoe. sounds pretty good to me.

Sidekick was adapted from a Taphouse/Roundhouse only draft called Hob Nob, which was created for one of the brewers' weddings or something, and was absolutely comparable to Zombie Dust. It was just overflowing with sticky citrus notes and a solid but unobtrusive malt body. However, I was told they changed the recipe (to be more cost effective, maybe?) and when I first tried it under the new name/tweaked recipe, I knew they'd made a huge mistake. The body was more watery, the malt character became slightly tangy and reminiscent of unmalted wheat (maybe they added some), and the hop bill somehow lost its spark.
