Are the beers good, fresh? How about the food? I went to the website and saw pictures of the outdoor seating, kind of cheesy. However I met 2 guys at Good Beer (NYC, LES) who said it was a good place. Thanks, KP. BTW, comments on Radegast in Brooklyn would be appreciated.
The beers are alright. More mainstream craft taps. You'll find Victory, Abita, Sierra, etc. Occasionally they'll have on something really good like Carton or Flower Power. I've never been a huge fan of the food there. Better off going to Barcade. Radegast is a fun environment, no American craft on. The Pilsener Haus in Hoboken is quite similar to Radegast. I enjoy the atmosphere at both of those places much more than Zeppelin Hall
I've been to both Pilsener Haus and Zeppelin Hall a few times, and have to say I prefer Zeppelin Hall. Better tap choices (had flower power on tap), more outdoor seating (not cheesy), their giant pretzel is fantastic, all coupled with free parking. Having said that Barcade is in a league of their own.
Zeppelin sucks. Barcade is amazing. Great craft beer and classic arcade games. Can you really go wrong? Locations in Brooklyn and Jersey City in this area plus Philly and a location in the works somewhere else but nothing out of the concept stages. For a German beer hall in NJ though Pilsener Haus is better.
In the past I had so many tap beers in JC and Hob which weren't good I gave up and limited myself to NYC...which isn't exactly the tap beer capital either. The PATH trains provide easy access for me to all these places, maybe it's time to give JC and Hob another chance.
Pilsenerhaus is the spot for very fresh German lagers, awesome giant pretzels, and girls in lederhosen.
