I was surprised to find 6 packs of Zero Gravity's Conehead at Berman's in Lexington today. I don't think I've ever seen it down here before but perhaps I just missed it. Not a whale or anything but I think it's a pretty interesting beer (smells and tastes more like apricots than any other IPA I've had) and would be glad to see it regularly available.

There seem to be some rumors that Focal Banger may be seeing some distribution in MA come the fall too. I discounted it when I first heard about it but it came up in another thread and some other people had heard the same thing. With Fiddlehead and Lawsons (well, that perhaps doesn't really count) having moved in recently is there perhaps a larger move to get VT beers down into Massachusetts brewing?

    Errr, no pun intended :stuck_out_tongue:

Picked up some Conehead yesterday myself – I’m a fan of it, I think it’s much better than it rates on here. Affordable, too. I paid 9.99 for the sixer.

    Oh man, and I thought I got a deal at $11.99

And yeah, after having it in Vermont a year or so back I remember being surprised to see it rated so relatively middling on BA too. I enjoy it a lot.

ETA: can I ask where you got yours?

Good to see Zero Gravity make its way down here. I think they're underrated.

Total wine. It's often very difficult to find fresh, cold IPAs there but I lucked out with that. Was only stopping in for some rum and saw conehead and also gave the new dogfish lupu luau coconut ipa a shot which was also still fresh. Two enthusiastic thumbs up on the DFH brew.

But yeah I would welcome more Zero Gravity shipments.

You are in luck. Zero Gravity launched distro in MA last Thursday. They had a tasting at Yankee last week. They are launching with sixers of Conehead, Little Wolf, and Green State Lager. $9.99 a sixer at Yankee.

Look for Zero Gravity on draft too. They already sent kegs of Bretthead to a number of MA bars.

Jokingly, I always thought it was Taxachusetts, but how are you guys able to get Conehead $2 less in sixers than my state. If anything, well, I'm honestly happy that Mass is getting this nicely brewed "wheat IPA." And some other great beers by ZG.

Hopefully, for the sour/tart fruit fans, you'll see "Strawberry Moon," at least for me, I absolutely love that beer.

Was up in Burlington last month, I thought the beers were decent. I liked the Green State Lager, nothing mind blowing and not my favorite, but I had more than a few...which is a compliment coming from a guy who's a harsh critic of lagers in general.

I don't really remember if Conehead stood out to me, or Little Wolf. I'll likely pick up all three when I see them to get a better idea.

Even though they told me at Flatbread in VT that they're not EXACTLY the same as Flatbread here in MA...to me they appear to be the same company (if someone can explain the difference to me, I'm all ears). It's only fitting they're down here in MA now...I wonder if any of the Flatbread locations will get their kegs?

Burlington, VT is American Flatbread, the ones in MA you're thinking of (Bedford, Somerville, Amesbury) are Flatbread Company. They are definitely different restaurants, both equally awesome.

Zero Gravity's beers are brewed at the Pine Street location. Some beers are served there and the main lineup is served at the Flatbread location on Saint Paul Street across from Vermont Pub & Brewery. Everything canned is coming from the Pine Street location. They moved the actual brewery to Pine Street in 2012.

The actual name for the restaurant/brewpub here in Vermont that is affiliated with Zero Gravity is American Flatbread Burlington Hearth.

Zero Gravity makes very nice beers, but no one I've ever met drives to Vermont especially to get it. Usually, as was the case with me, people go to Vermont to get beer from the usual suspects, and ZG/Flatbread is place they check out while there. ZG is a terrific addition to MA, but it isn't going to change lives. I know plenty of people who could care less about ZG, but personally speaking, I enjoy it a great deal.

Even as a local, I have to admit, that this post is probably the best answer to ZG.

However, they are canning that Strawberry Moon, I think I said that above, sorry, but I really did like that beer, could have been just the day I had it.

Green State actually might be my favorite pils. Super glad to have it here in the commonwealth.

Something like 8-10 years ago their frozen pizza sales took off. that division along with the out of vt restaurants were sold off and their name changed to American flatbread co pant. I believe The Burlington vt and warren(the original) locations are still owned by the founders

This is pretty much how I felt about it when I traveled up there last month.

It was nice to see it most places (along with Marie and Mary from Hill Farmstead) as something I could actually session. There's plenty of great IPAs in VT, but you can't drink IPAs/double IPAs all day long.

Ok, this makes sense, and it was the answer I was looking for. Because when I went to the American Flatbread in Burlington, I saw the menu and thought, "Wait a minute...how is this not the same place as the Flatbread's down in MA?"

That sums up my feelings too. I kind of lumped them in with 14th star (Tribute anyway) as great beer you could count on finding easily while you were up in VT. And I think Conehead justifies its existence on our overcrowded shelves in that it has some unique character.

Awesome to hear. Will be looking out for it.

And thanks to the people who explained the mystery of Flatbread. An employee at the Somerville location once tried to explain things to me when I asked them if they were a chain or not and I was left completely confused

I did love the pizza at Folinos. But if I'm looking for a can of beer here in the Bay State, for now it's Zero Gravity > Fiddlehead

I'd like to thank Massachusetts for sending up Exhibit A. Been enjoying the hell out of Demo Tape this summer :grinning:
