Ok so I know it makes it here in Kentucky. I have seen it a few times at places here in Lexington, but I have never gotten a chance to purchase any. A friend of mine wants to try it for the first time so I am hoping someone on here can guide me to where the mysterious shipments go. Would appreciate any info.

Shipments are varied. First, you never know if it will arrive at all. Second, if it does arrive, it's not everywhere that gets FFF beer. Third, some of the places that get it will hold it for certain customers.

Best bet is to watch local boards, etc, and when it shows on a Tuesday, then start hitting all the other FFF destinations later that week. Not everyone gets FFF on Tuesday, some don't get it until Friday of that week.

I have to ask one of the guys who can get it held for him to hook me up when I want to find a bottle. It's not easy, especially when you're actually looking for it.

I always somehow manage to just miss Zombie Dust in the area. Either I walk in an hour after they sell out and see the empty case (this happened at Red Dot in Frankfort a few weeks ago) or decide not to go to Shenanigans on the Friday they get some in.

Literally the last time Shenanigans got it, I walked in, didn't think anything of it and a guy had a six pack at the register. Asked Justin and he said that was the last of it.... I hated my life! I was 2 mins to slow. Does Frankfort get shipments in regularly? Thats the only issue I have. I feel it is so sporadic I can never get a read on it. My luck, I will be in Eastern KY on friday and Lexington will get a couple cases I bet.

I gather from the snark on ATG's Citra Ass Down can they consider this to be at least in the same time zone as ZD. I've had probably older but still tasty cans of CAD from last year, but never had or seen ZD. Would those of you familiar with both say ATG has something there?

Red Dot West in Frankfort gets all their beer in on Thursdays and typically they get stuff a week after Lexington. Maybe once a month they get FFF in and this was the first time I saw any evidence of them getting ZD. I've been trying to get on their email list to get notified when stuff comes in but for some reason I never get any of the emails.

Haven't had them side by side but the issue I have with ATG and the citra ass down is that it is an imperial IPA. I like ZD a great deal because its more of a sessionable beer to me. Great beer that I could drink for hours. I am willing to give the citra ass down new version a try though.

The big can release was apparently a bust because they couldn't get the canning line working, but it should dribble out to stores soon. At least when it does I will be able to walk off the street and buy it, rather than being there on the right alternate Tuesday which is apparently the case with ZD.

Apples and oranges, IMO; Citra's a lot heavier beer to me.

I've had a lot of luck jumping over to shops in Southern IN to find Zombie Dust. Locally, it seems like a complete crapshoot, but I've seen it a lot more at Liquor Barn than anywhere else.

It just baffles me. I can go into any shop and buy alpha king or yum yum very easily. Zombie dust though is a unicorn.

    Lexington or Louisville?

It's in the same realm in that it's a Citra hopped beer, but I don't recall them being all that similar. CAD is a good beer, and easier to get, but it's not on the same level as ZD.

Louisville. Between hitting spots over the bridge and the random Liquor Barn shipment, it's not too tough to find around here.

It's not too hard to find on tap. Also, Old town, liquor barns, evergreen, even bowman field liquors gets 6 pks.

I just wish it was frequent. Its one thing to get it like every other week, but here in Lexington I feel it is once every month maybe.

If you're in Louisville on a Tuesday I'd recommend hitting up The Keg across the river. That's usually the day fresh FFF hits. I've gotten 8 day old PF/Dreadnaught/Dust etc every few months or so.

Well I don't care about the drive. Also... PF! That is the one bomber I have yet to try from them that I absolutely want. Maybe next week I will give them a call on Tuesday and double check.

I don't blame them, but it's been my experience that Keg will usually not tell you over the phone if they've got the sought after FFF, so you might just have to take a flier. IMO, though, it's worth the trip just for the other great stuff they get whether you find ZD or not.

I miss the days when I could go across the river to the keg and buy six packs of alpha king and gumballhead any day of the week for $9.49 a six-pack. And they had Cantillon rotting on the shelf. Those were the days.
