Stores in the Columbus area are starting to tarnish my love for high end craft beer. The 1 beer per game just sucks. Store owners and ugly beer chicks who work at beer stores that want you to feel like you hit the lottery when you get a bottle suck even more.
^^^^ Agreed. So glad I have friends still in Toledo that run a beer shop that hold more than 1 of the good stuff for me.
Let me make sure I get this right: You are mad that you only get 1 bottle of something, thereby allowing others to try a beer that you are getting to try yourself. Going to sound like the uber dick here, but really, just be happy you are actually getting a bottle of it and move on. For goodness sakes, it's beer, it's not the end of the damned world. /rant
^^^^ I don't keep stuff for myself. I usually trade it with friends who have never had it before. So that's why I like getting more than 1.
Keffa you have it all so right; my time is too valuable to chase around 12oz bottles and then deal with store clerks who possess heroic attitudes... have at it my friend, share with all, kum ba yah around the camp fire.
Can't tell if sarcasm... Seriously though, I've been guilty of the whole beer entitlement argument before, but I've come to realize that life is too short to be mad about not getting a bottle of the big new release. If you get it, cool, good. If not, well, there'll always be something else you can try later on. Beer is always going to be around, and there's always going to be the next big thing. Just enjoy it while you can.
The issue I often have with the single bottle limits is the price hike that so many stores feel obliged to charge for it. I forget where I got my first (and last) single of Zombie Dust last year, but it cost $5.49. About half the cost of the six pack at suggested retail. I hear some places charged upwards of $7-8 for a single of KBS. I thought that stuff was pricey when you could get a whole 4 pack for $22. Ohh, and the girl at Palmers is cute.
If distributors would stop jerking Columbus around maybe we wouldn't have to scour the city assembling a 4pack or KBS at $8 a bottle or whatever the beer of the week is. We seem to be a really solid market, it would be nice to count on a brewery once to hook us up. On the note of shops, I try not to give my business to stores that charge an unjustifiable mark up. Some shops here in Columbus feel entitled I think, which is the most frustrating thing ever, you sell beer for god sake, you didn't brew it, im not impressed by your stock becuase 8 other places in the city have the same beers. That's why I usually choose to hit weiland's, palmers, and aficanados, down to earth people who aren't looking for a pat on the back. Ill step off the soap box now
