Have a work trip in London right after Zwanze weekend, can anybody provide some insight as to what that is like, locations to attend, and types of bottles that come out? Trying to figure out if it's worth the time/money. Thanks!

Zwanze is served in Brussels at the 2 Moeder Lambiek locations. You usually need to buy tickets for the beer itself to smoothen service, you can buy the tickets earlier the same day, no problems there. Brewery doesn’t serve Zwanze that day. Keg usually lasts a few hours at the original Moeder, about 20 minutes at the Fontainas location. Beer is poured at the appointed time – never earlier or later.

Both Moeder locations are fantastic bars, I would say that it’s worth the time if you are going to drink beer anyway in Brussels. Selections varies by year, you will find usually 2 or so special Cantillon beers on draft. Other selection, look for announcements, some years they offers lots of Italian beers for instance, other years nothing above the usual selection which is wonderful varies massively, check their FB page where they do announcements.

Moeder original has been recently refurbished. I'll be there for zwanze this year, just look for the loud drunks switching between spanish and english, slumped in the corner.

I've done Zwanze in the Fontainas location, but never in the original. May change that this year. Is it hard to get a seat there?

I'm planning on leaving Oktoberfest on Saturday evening for a few days in Belgium, but is Zwanze day worth leaving a day early? Other than Zwanze day release, what is the event like?

The tap list always has a couple special treats. Of course their bottle list is always long and full of good stuff at a price. I will be attending MiOrge MiHoublon's event in Arlon, BE. Last year he had Fou, Rhubarb, and Zwanze on draft as well as several bottles to drink in house.

I realize they wont be serving 2016 Zwanze at the brewery, but is the brewery open for bottle sales the day of Zwanze or do they take the day off?

I really want to try this years Zwanze so Im planning a trip, but damn the flight between 10/1 is expensive. Is it worth to visit Brussels in Zwanze day for more expensive price? When does the brewery starting to sell this years vintage in site? If they are selling beers like fou or rhubarb, I dont see a lots of benefits other than just visiting the brewery a month later. Thanks and cheers.

For me, the actual Zwanze Day is about the experience of hanging out with a few friends and trying something new/special on that day. It is an event. If you are really focused on the beer, going to Cantillon later in the month should be great too. The in-house-only tap list is usually very good. You may also time it right for FF and LPF bottle releases. I visited in early October last year and both had just been released. Zwanze is a couple weeks later this year, and you can never really know when the seasonal beers will be released, so it is always a bit of a crap-shoot. As a guy who does a lot of international travel, my advice is not to get too wrapped up with a single aspect of the trip (either Zwanze, a special release, or anything else). If that one part falls through, you don't want it to ruin the whole experience.

Thanks for the wonderful reply. I really want to go earlier but that flight cost... should have booked a month earlier :slight_frown: Well that's still nice to hear that I can try the beer!

I have same question. I would love to see the brewery and have a taste or two before evening festivities at Moeder. My timing only allows me to be there Saturday or Sunday and Sunday they are normally closed.

Anyone know how/when the ticket release for Zwanze Day at either Moeder Lambic location works? Me and three buddies will be flying into Brussels the afternoon of Oct 1st. We would like to secure tickets in advance, if possible. I can't find much info anywhere.

I've read somewhere (can't remember where exactly) that tickets would go on sale on Sep 17th.
