Forced and full of frauds that make a fun day into a living hell.

Can't wait! I wonder if the NYC event will remain at Spuyten, or perhaps move to newer digs...

Pretty sure it's a stout a la Cantillon. We saw bottles conditioning when we were there in May.

What happened to the original Zwanze 2012? Maybe it will be that

They actually announced it would be a stout on the facebook or their site a while back, iirc.

Festival US announced they would get the original Zwanze 2012 (lambic Haute Densité) so anything else would be nice. I'm not sure about the stout/lambic blend but it would be an interesting experiment!

Haute Densité isn't the original zwanze 2012 i dont think, can anyone confirm?

also, i predict this lambic/stout will taste alot like zwet.be

What was it originally? I remember them saying it didn't take off like they expected.

They tried to spontaneously ferment wort in these clay jars (not barrels), like it would have been thousands of years ago. Supposedly it made it to a few dinners and was quite nice. I guess just not what people would be expecting for a Zwanze beer.

You may very well be right, I just made that assumption since it was talked about for so long and it was pretty close (tripel vs barleywine). When you look at the picture, it looks more like a tripel as it is completely blond, just thought they made a mistake with the barleywine thing.

I hope it'll still feel more like a lambic than Zwet.be though as it was pretty tame. They will have done quite a few hybrid; a witbier, barleywine (or high gravity) and a stout. They'll have to put some fruits back in the next Zwanzes

I remember an announcement a while back that it would be a stout with a lambic-style fermentation.

I thought it was a quad and it just wasn't quite ready for zwanze day.

When will they announce the cities?

All they said on their website was that it was a "top fermentation beer" that had "[taken] control of its own destiny."
