    Heyo,

Anybody planning on going? Glad they're doing the barrel cellar again for this one. My friends I usually hit it up with are out of town but still debating going. Looks like it's gonna be a helluva lineup as usual.

Zwanze at the Barrel Cellar always delivers for me. It's feels like a crowdsourced beerfest more than a release event to me.

Going. Haven't been since "14 (?). Could be a bit chilly but....

Holy shit, did that really happen?

Oh wait, beerslobs lined up and drank barleywine at 7:00 a.m. Of course it happened.

Half those fools probably didn't even know what Zwanze tasted like by the time they got a pour.

Yup, pretty much par for the course for many folks, but there were an excessive number of randoms throwing up. Turnout was a bit less than the last 2 years, so it was more noticeable, too. I wasn't a fan of this Zwanze beer. It wasn't awful or anything, but it wasn't my thing. Kind of like the stout from a couple years ago. I knew that going in, though. The Rhubarb one (Nath, the 2012 Zwanze) was much more to my liking.

I love this. When I went to the HBM release in Denver it seemed that at least 1/3 of the people in line hadn't taken a shower or possibly put on clean clothes in several days. Gross. People, you can love craft beer AND personal hygiene, it's okay.

Agree. The bottle shares in line were better. I thought the 06 DFH Zwaanend I brought held up well (a bunch of others agreed) and some other beers I sampled were quite delicious. Zwanze was ok; liked the St L best, as well as a kriek that 3 of us chipped in for.

Ah, yeah - that was the Rye Bock. That was pretty good. Almost no "old beer" oxidation notes.
My favorite normally available Cantillon other than Fou Foune is the normal 'ol Kriek, so I was glad to be able to buy bottles it.
The absolute best thing about Zwanze was what they were charging. 750's for $24? Pours for $6? That's what they cost at the store 10+ years ago.

We were there but we got our two pours and hit the road. I saw some people swaying on their feet, one broken glass, but no vomiting. Glad we left right after the Zwanze was poured (I actually liked it). There were plenty of decently behaved people, too bad the others had to make a mess.
