I'll see you there! Date: Saturday, 20 of September 2014 @ 7PM City: Melbourne Local: Belgian Beer Cafe Melbourne Street: 5 Riverside Quay, Southbank For the first time in history, legendary lambic producer Cantillon is bringing their annual Zwanze Day celebrations to Australia. Arguably the most highly regarded annual beer release in the world, only one keg of this year’s yet-to-be-confirmed Zwanze Beer will be landing in Australia and the Belgian Beer Café Melbourne in conjunction with Phoenix Beers are very proud to announce that we will be tapping our Zwanze Day keg at 9:00pm AEST on Saturday September 20th 2014. Manager Taz Matthews says: “We have a long history with Cantillon and are incredibly excited that we have been able to work with Jean Van Roy and Cantillon along with Geoff Hanson and Phoenix Beers to bring this prestigious event to Australia for the first time. There are only 52 bars worldwide to be pouring this exceptionally rare release and due to our time zone, Australia will have the pleasure of tapping the very first keg.” Zwanze Day 2014 celebrations will run from 7pm until late. The evening will play host to a showcase of sour beers, including several exclusive additional Cantillon beers on tap. There will also be live music, food specials and traditional Belgian shuffleboard.
See you there! I'm flying down from Sydney. Should be fun to check out the event and other Melbourne venues.
Sheesh, I considered piking because it wasn't within walking distance. I wonder what else will be on. I'd love there to be some bag in a box lambic - an Australian Zwanze day really needs . 'Course if it was at a proper pub with a drivethrough, we could mount a Hills Hoist on the back of a ute and do Hoon 'loon Goon of Fortune.
Hey mate, phoenix beers do get out of WA on occasion. Then again when you live in the most isolated capitol city in the world you WA'ers still have no clue.
