    Hi everyone,

I'm leading a small group to Zythos this year. The web site isn't much help for preparing, though. Does anyone know if I can order starter packs in advance, or do I need to get them when I arrive? I've read that this is well organized, but I'd like to prepare as much as I can.

If i recall correctly, you can order and pay in advance, and collect your packs at the information desk when entering

Yves said it all... with your printed paper you get everything at a special desk...

Just tagging on here. Have our flat reserved, and will be ordering in advance.

15 tokens is 150cl of beer, or about 4.5 beers at 33cl (16oz) for planning purposes.
My question is, the fest opens at noon and we've got a 3hr drive to get there, possibly with a stop at a beer market. Are there any advantages to getting there slightly early (11:45)? Will we struggle to find room if we show up at 13:00+/-?

Any other advice? We've got to figure out the bus ride from our apartment. Anyone know how that might work to procure tickets? Does the bus run until 23:00?

Lastly, what is the Glass holder?

    Thanks!! Looking forward to this!!

They've changed to 10cl samples since last year. 13:00 is early enough to find room. You might have to wait in line for your jetons and glasses though. It gets busy late in the afternoon. It's a LOT busier saturday than sunday though. Buses run all day and work just fine, free shuttle buses that leave every couple minutes from the central train station.

Bus schedules are integrated with google maps too, so planning is easy.

Or rent a bike in Leuven and ride down.

I don't think the shuttle buses stick to the normal bus schedules. They just keep driving

That is true, but de lijn buses run in that area too. At least as a backup plan in case of overcrowded/infrequent shuttles.

Great info. Thank you! Unfortunately, we won't be sticking around for Sunday. So we'll just have to enjoy elbows to elbows with other beer geeks on Saturday. I've been to Belgian Beer Weekend in Brussels, so I am familiar with it being crowded.

According to google, we are to walk to Leuven Tiensepoort Station (intersection of R23 & N3) and get on bus 630. If that sounds correct, can we buy tickets at the station?

Just a quick post-event update! My friend and I had a great time!! The fest is amazing. Being inside is nice and allowed for good climate control. Free bathrooms are huge! 88 Beer vendors and well over 200 beers - wow!
Free bus rides from main station to fest and back.
Every conceivable type of beer available, so if you're not a hop head; still lots to try. If you like sours; many to choose from. Prefer darker beers; gotcha covered!

Vendors were pleasant to talk to and would always offer suggestions.

We were there around 14:00 on Saturday until about 22:00 and it got the busiest by 17:00-20:00, then began to thin out again.

Food offerings were great although we only tried one!

If you are traveling from afar to come to one fest, this one should be a strong contender. I like the atmosphere of Belgian Beer Weekend a little better being outside, but there are far more beers here to try and little concern of weather. Bathrooms are always near and free, and you don't have to exit the premises to eat.

We did see a couple instances were people had a little too much "liquid courage" and a scuffle broke out, but aside from that, everyone was friendly.

Anyone else see those two very tall fellas? Wow, that one guy had to have been 7.5ft (229cm)!

Couldnt miss those big chumps :-)
Atmosphere and organisation smooth and nice as always. Disappointed with the beers served. Lots of things but really quantity over quality. Struise was dearly missed.

Have you been to Oktoberfest? LOL! That is quantity over quality.

Yes, I looked hard for De Struise as well!

Struise was definitely missed. Next year I guess...

Did anyone else try the stuff from Totem? Pretty impressed with their hoppy beers.

Yes i tried the rauchbier from totem. By far the worst beer of the festival.
