Volo cask days 2009.
Poured a reddish brown with a thin white head.
A sweet, syrupy nose, with a little hazelnut and molasses. Kind of fruity, mixed berries.
tasted fairly bready, very sweet, a great nut profile going on. Not much bitterness, just enough to balance out the dry nut flavouring.
This was very low carbonation, and surprisingly easy to drink.
A novelty beer... but done well. Surprisingly easy to drink. Couldn't drink a lot of these, but for what it was, it was really good.

Needless to say, this is a strange goose. One of the most popular beers at 2009's cask days, I think a lot of people chose this one for its novelty value.
Poured a rich mahogany with a few large tan bubbles, which soon faded away. The aroma is intense and sweet. It reminds me more of a creme caramel than PB and J, or even of one of those fake french vanilla coffees that Tim Horton's peddle. The taste is sweet, sweet, sweet, but works in small quantities. The nuttiness comes through nicely, and as a jam maker I'm not surprised by the high sugar content. I can't place my finger on the fruit, but it is there. Very limited hop presence. Medium body with a slick mouthfeel.
Definitely a novelty, and one I would limit to a small serving, but an interesting take nonetheless, and in hindisght an experiment that worked.

Volo Cask Days 2009. An interesting experiment that worked. The aroma of roasted peanuts. Bubby head on reddish brown body. Subtle tastes of peanuts, maybe a hint of strawberry. At most a pint, an interesting novelty, and one that breaks up the pattern of the same ask styles. Average mouthfeel.
