One of Rapid City’s most unique and interesting landmarks - our brewery and restaurant is housed within the original Rapid City firehouse, a structure built in 1915 and listed on the National Historic Register. The bar is adorned with authentic South Dakota firefighting memorabilia from the days of Rapid City’s first fire brigades – including the original fire pole, ladders, patches and more.

A must-stop for us anytime we’re in Rapid City! This was one of my earliest craft beer experiences, and the thought of it always brings special memories. I’ve recommended it to many people.
There is seating both indoors and out. The beer is average to good — I’ve long been a Smokejumper Stout aficionado — the food is quite good, including respectable if not great barbecue, the service is good, and the firefighting memorabilia is delightful to regard.
We don’t get through Rapid City often, but when we do … .

On a trip about 5 or 6 years ago, we stopped at Mt. Rushmore and after seeing that, Rapid City was nearby so went to explore. Small city with a nice downtown area. Stopped at Firehouse Brewing for lunch and a couple of brews. Service was good and staff was friendly. Don't remember how many taps they had, but probably about a dozen. Food was good, I think we had pizza. We each had 2 beers, and all were better than decent. Would go back again

Converted firehouse, with brick walls and old fire fighting equipment. Second floor windows provide view of brewing equipment. Enclosed rectangular bar with chairs. High top tables provide other seating. Fifteen taps with a good range of standard styles. Competent staff. Street parking in the vicinity. Downtown spot with some history.
Sports bar upstairs with TVs on all four walls. Full service bar.

During a recent visit to the Black Hills, we decided to try to have dinner at the Firehouse. It was a Saturday night and the wait was almost two hours. They took our cell phone number and we were free to wander around the very nice and compact downtown. Lucky for us we ended up at Hay Camp Brewery for a few beers (see separate review).
This is a large space with the bar dissecting the main dining area. There is a large side patio that had live music the night we were there. I believe there is also an upstairs dining room. As expected lots of firefighter memorabilia on display.
I thought the beers were fine. I was glad to see an ESB, a brown, etc. Not much for trend chasers.
The food was ok with a few folks in our party really liking their entrees and a few folks who were not as thrilled.
Service was friendly if a bit slow and everything came out in good order.
I’m glad I got a chance to visit this well-established brewpub.

Love the building, but it was all down hill from there. I ordered the sampler of the 5 year-round beers. The first to are average examples of boring styles (Bell Tower and Blue Eyed Girl). The others were okay. The food ranged from fine to not good. Chips and salsa were a small pile of chips on a plate and not homemade salsa. Pasta was okay. The chicken in it was better. Service was helpful but obnoxious. I think of server just got off the set of a high school production of "Our Town".

Went there with my extended family today (9 people, 5 minors, three under 6). Food (at least the various barbecue foods we had) and service were great. Beer was good. I like the place.
Beer was fine but not excellent, selection was only theirs, which is fine, but not excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to go back, but it's in the "nice place, good food, acceptable beer" category.

not sure why the locals arent real high on this place, i had a nice experience here, but heard some negative feedback around town. i saw no need for any of it. the place is a big compound, with a quaint old taproom and restaurant with old fire equipment around, a four sided bar, an upstairs dining area, visible conditioning/serving tanks, a awesome indoor/outdoor patio with fireplaces and big picnic tables, and an adjacent gift shop and winery. its a pretty impressive facility, and as big as it is, it still feels comfortable. as many as ten beers on tap, but no printed menu, just a wooden painted board, they must not rotate very much. i had the procrastination porter, and liked it quite a bit. looked like mostly basic styles for these guys, a wheat and an amber and a blonde etc. but the quality was there. the white chili i had was excellent, and the other food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled very good. service was prompt but maybe not as "beery" as you find in a lager city. i left here satisfied and eager to come back. it was a good experience, and i am keen to try more of their beer. very comfortable place to be as well.

This place is worth a visit for the atmosphere alone. Lots of old firehouse memorabilia, with some of the original fixtures from the 1915 firehouse. Excellent food, with a variety of house-brewed beers on tap. There's also a gift shop where you can pick up logo glassware, clothing, and other items. Not to be missed if you're in the area.

Eight beers on tap. I tried their Hefeweizen wheat beer with my burger and thought they went well together Service was excellent and the food was tasty and came out quick. Recommend it if you are in the area.

Note: This review is based on full experience. Inside old firehouse with antiques and such on a Saturday night to a flight of beers and ribs. Food was great, beers were good to very good... I really like the Barely Blonde best. A band was playing on the patio and although it seemed to be the hangout in town there was plenty of room. The atmosphere more than the beer will bring me back again.
