On tap at the brewery – Los Angeles Arts District
Served in a house shaker pint glass - 01/11/14
A: Hazy goldenrod body with a half finger deep film of paper white over top. Mild retention efforts leave some lazy swaths of lace sagging across the glass.
S: Smells like sourdough bread with a grainy wheat malt tow. Tart and juicy with fruity malts but watermelon is not entirely obvious. Has a slight earthy mineral quality. Definitely tart and grainy.
T: Tastes of tart fruit juice with grainy wheat malts and a touch of twangy sourdough bread. Again not a ton of watermelon here but it is nice and fruity. More rind than melon flesh actually as the beer is tart and not all that sugary. Has a faint vanilla malt sweetness and a dash of earthiness at the finish. Very light and dry with no real alcohol in existence or any perceived bitterness there. Pretty sessionable with a soft puckering tartness to it. Kind makes you think Berliner.
M: Very light to medium in body with even carb and a touch watery consistency. Has a light drying towards a rather clean finish overall .
D: Not typically my thing but this could really hit the spot on a warm summers day. I like that it is not over the top with sugary melon flavors. Has a nice balance in that regard. The Mrs.Nooch took a liking for sure.
