Vulkan Brauerei GmbH & Co. “Vulkan Helles”
,33l brown glass bottle, coded “Mindestens haltbar bis: 14.05.22. 12:55 063”. Sampled on 25.09.21
Look: This is an unfiltered beer, and as such the first pour was quite clear while later additional added a fair amount of haze. The body is golden in color and the head is a full cap of white. Good Head retention and lacing.
Smell: Sweet Pilsner malt with some grassiness and herbal and floral hops.
Taste: The flavor follows the aroma with the addition of a firm bitterness that brings it to a dry, short lingering finish. Nicely balanced with sweetness upfront and bitterness in back.
Feel: Medium bodied with a gently crisp carbonation.
Overall: A pleasant, well brewed helles with a little bit of a twist.

My third beer in my own mini-German evening.
Tall flip-top 500ml bottle: best before 3rd Nov 2012, poured three times into my small 0.2 litre 'Konig Pilsner' badged tulip glass on 13th Jun 2012.
Slight haze to each pour: getting a little cloudier each time, a good foaming head also on each pour. The body colour has a mid-golden hue.
Aroma is fairly sweet floral: unusual for the regular German beers of this style.
The taste is also on the sweet side with a sharp hop bite that makes the beer refreshing and different.
Easy drinking beer that I'd love to try at the brew-pub: one day I will.

Light oranged appearance, lightly veiled, with twofingers of white and creamy head.
Fresh malty smell, with a hint of hop.
Light in the mouth, with a light maltiness, not overwhelming. Some peppery hop notes.
Aftertaste in style, malty without being too sweet or honeyed.
Some hop in the end to balance all.
Honest, well done helles.

Presentation: standard Vulkan brau to-go bottle, caps are color coded for style. The helles has a gold cap.
Appearance - a slightly hazy orange. Crisp off-white head fades slowly to a thin covering. Gets noticeably cloudier with the remaining contents poured into the pint glass.
Aroma - clean, grainy, and doesn't fade away as the head melts down. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Taste - lightly roasted malts, some lemony notes. After a few sips it settles into a pilsnery kind of flavor, slightly sweet. A soft bitter edge at the end, drying out the finish a bit. Good character for a style without much room to express itself.
Mouthfeel - soft and smooth going down. Average carbonation, on target.
Drinkability - a fine German brew worthy of the volcano this brewhouse sits upon.
