Served on tap into a tulip glass.
A- Poured a hazy dark golden color with white soapy head that left no lace.
S- Big tropical fruit notes of pineapple, peach, and mango.
T- Lots of juicy tropical fruit notes of peach, pineapple , mango, some piney notes, mint, and finishes with some earthy bitterness. Moderate bitterness overall.
M- Prickly carbonation, medium to fuller bodied, dry, and a very easy drinking DIPA.
O- Really impressed by this DIPA. I had it at a beer fest a couple weeks ago and it was a stand out for me so I was pleasantly surprised to see it on draft so soon after.

Sampled at the recent 2013 Sasquatch fest in Eugene. There were many great beers at the event, but this really stood out.
The beer pours a prototypical orange amber color with good head retention and lacing. On the nose... my lord! The beer delivers a huge aroma of skunky weed, pine, dry citrus and underlying tropical fruit. The pine and skunky week was so intense, that I was getting something of blue cheese. roquefort cheese aroma, that was nothing short of amazing. With such a great nose, I expected actually tasting the beer would be a let down. However, the beer was nearly as good on the palate, as it delivered considerable hoppy bitterness and tropical fruit, with a long, dry, hoppy/bitter finish. Mouthfeel was impressive as well. I got no heat from the alcohol, and mouthfeel was fairly full and very smooth.
This is one of the most impressive DIPA's I've had in a very long time. As it wasn't in the data base, I contacted the brewery to see if the beer was going to be available anyplace other than at the fest. Was told a few kegs should be making their way to Eugene, so hopefully I'll get to try this again soon. Just an all around excellent beer.
Here's what the brewer had to say about the beer:
Brewed as a tribute beer to our friends at Latitude 45 Hops, Uncle Jim’s Maui Wowie is a double IPA bursting with hop character. Chinook, Centennial, Summit and Citra hops pack a punch in this high gravity copper colored ale. Intense resinous, sweet pine, citrus and tropical fruit flavors and aromas dominate this big beer. Medium bodied and dry finishing = dangerously easy to drink.
